I am curious how much effort the community would spend on keeping it alive.
There are many spammer on sg. No need to worry about it.

I don't see the point in voting then. Shouldn't you use a weighted die in order to the vote to mean something?

This. I am so confused as to what is the point of this.

you still affect the outcome, that's easy to see
Here we collectively have the same amount of influence on the outcome as people who choose their own numbers for a lottery ticket (vs being given an already filled-in lottery ticket). However, the outcome is completely random in both cases, so it's not actually easy to see how we can affect it :)
On a related note, here's a fun classic paper on the illusion of control (PDF). I believe Experiment 2 describes a similar situation, where people were either choosing a lottery ticket by themselves or were being handed a lottery ticket and those who chose their tickets ended up valuing them more.

I expect a similar "game" here. Like checking the share of the votes, how they will change if - for example - a game from the list will get bundled tomorrow. And maybe I just think differently, but despite everything being random, one still controls (or rather modifies) the outcome - like leaving the house 5 seconds later can mean that you run into the guy rollerskating across the door. Similarly, while each game has 12,5% chance to be picked based on their order anything that modifies the order affects the result. Not the statistical (still 12,5%) but the actual result that will happen even if the randomgenerator throws out the same number.
This is why I also thought that this is something psychological, because it involves choice that can be modified, and while it modifies, but does not determine the results ^^ or just Talgaby is spying on me and how much of a crippling problem can be if one panics if outside forces can fuck up their plans and dealings, and then I panic / shut down :| Working on getting over it, though :D

Yea but you might just have a random generator choosing the order for you. You are gonna get the same effect, just you save yourself the time to make a thread and others to read it.

While some of them where really interesting, I guess this is one of the "lets waste of peoples time" like the other one with the confusing GA descriptions.
...and now I am wasting my own time, fuck I am a genious :D

I might now have seen the other ones then o.o I only know of the one I have mentioned and the ones where you made the same GAs for different levels (the ones I found really interesting)

This is one of them, I cannot find the other: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/4NrZj/

Had to chose between The Coma, Shadowhand and The Norwood Suite.
Went for The Coma.

Oops, should I edit that comment as well as the one I just posted above?

This is why most of them will be titles most of you never heard of.
4/8 on my wishlist, and the rest looks promising too. Really nice gameselection :D

No, it's not disappointing. The second movie is awesome too. Maybe not as awesome as the first one, but still extremely good!

I chose Songbringer. That looks like a really neat game.:)

Voted for Shadowhand simply because it looks awesome.

Actually I think there's some faulty logic at play here. You don't have a 12.5% chance to influence anything - your influence is 0% whether you vote or not, as it will change absolutely nothing - which order the games are in by the time you draw the random number is irrelevant.
Interesting concept though, and thanks for the future giveaway!
I wonder if you might end up just picking the one with the most votes and this is all a clever ruse 😄

And the lucky number was… 4. Proving that sometimes you can be the winner even if you did not make it to the podium. And this time we did not even need the international anti-doping agency to invalidate the three leading contenders due to state-mandated cheating!
As promised, here is Songbringer:
http://www.sgtools.info/giveaways/2323f44a-08c1-11e8-907d-fa163ee2f826
It lasts for a little under a week, ends on 2018-02-09 16:00 UTC.
As a consolation price, I also made a giveaway for the winner, The Coma. You can finds its more exotic SGTools-protected link if you visit any of these giveaway-centric forum topics: You're Not Alone #3, Positive thread, or Giveaways for peace.
Finally, for those who wondered what the point was… Let me answer it with a question: how many of these indie games in the poll did you know of before visiting this topic?
Addendum:
You can also thank Nudiustertian for making giveaways for the rest of the bunch here: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/NLSVl/
The rules are simple. Vote for a game on the list. The amount of votes will determine their order. Once the voting ended, I'll use random.org to pick a number, and I will make a giveaway for the game in that spot. It may be the #1 pick, it may be the #8 pick, the (virtual) dice will decide.
Yes, this means that you have little control over which game will actually win (12.5% chance that your vote will mean anything in the end, to be exact). Then again, it is more control than you can have over what people create giveaways for on this site. (And a larger percentage over controlling the result of a poll than in most real-life elections.)
The voting lasts until 2018-02-02, the day Humble reveals the next Monthly bundle content.
I will not bump the topic. I am curious how much effort the community would spend on keeping it alive.
The winning game will be put up the next day as an invite-only giveaway, behind SGTools protection. The only rule will be "activated all wins", nothing more.
If anyone wonders, the list was compiled through the complex method of looking at the DRM-free releases on Humble store. This is why most of them will be titles most of you never heard of. Except the inevitable one game over half of the people will be voting on, because somehow this is what always happens when I do something similar. =)
