Postal, Victim of Xen, Numba Deluxe, Cobi Treasure Deluxe, Speedball 2 HD and PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate HD.

Those games are available for free from GMG Welcome Pack for quite some time now (few days, maybe a week) and people are still able to make giveaways of those games. Usually free games get removed from giveaway list faster.

I'm mainly asking because I've no interest in 3 of those games (I only activated the other 3 that I wanted) so if we're for some reason allowed to giveaway games from GMG Welcome Pack I'd give the ones I don't want rather then activating them and never using them.

They are just CV whores.

When we move to SG2, this matter will become irrelevant, as there will be no CV at all.

No CV? Can you give me a link to source of that information?

Steamgift 2.0 Beta, no CV whatsoever. It has been planning since last year, I believe, to remake SG to something it used to be: CV-free.

So, everyone will have no CV motivation to give away anything? Hello Lenin?

Its not that, its just you also cant make Contributor-giveaways...so no way to thank ppl that gave non-bundled games away.

The site ran fine before CV was ever implemented

Was that before it got so popular? I think the CV and contributor giveaways are a good system. You are more likely to create a giveaway if you get some benefits from it. It's in the human nature: You do something, you expect any kind of reward. Maybe I am mistaken but would you like to do your job without getting paid?

Does that make me a "not so high class member"? What do you intend to point out with your comment? Am I "too unexperienced to critize the old elite"? I call that pure childishness and arrogance.

That comment reveals the level of your intellect. Seems that even your 2+ years of membership do not increase your level of leading sophisticated argumentations. Your points are invalid.

It's an unwritten rule to never mess with people on forums who've been there longer than yourself. We've been here longer than you, we know this site better than you.
And generally people don't like newcomers who tell everyone how to run things in their opinion.

I respect the old members. But I am expecting to receive a certain level of respect from them too. It's not like this is the first site I'm on. I've been a member of the Steam community for nearly 10 years now.
It's obviously not my opinion only.
I simply cannot stand the arrogance that is widely spread in many internet platforms. There might be unwritten rules but there is no fixed hierarchy since all members are equal (except for admins/mods).

Even if the newcomer has a valid point?

Older members may know more background information, but it's simply rude to call someone a twat just because they haven't been here long.

Obviously it wasn't as popular as it is now, mainly due to the fact that we've had CV for over 2 years at this point. Would the site have grown at the same pace if CV had never been implemented? I cannot say.

What I can say is that the community was definitely a lot less toxic back then. Nowadays there are just so many people complaining about why their CV isn't going above $30, why their CV is dropping, why x game hasn't been put on the bundle list yet, why x game isn't on the giveaway list, etc.

Your job analogy is incredibly flawed. On one side, a job is absolutely required to make a living, whereas the other is something done in free time or for pleasure. The site was originally launched without CV because cg wanted it to be a purely philanthropic, giveaways from generosity sort of site. He implemented CV to act as a reward for contributors, not what it's been warped into the last 2 years.

CV is replaced with a blacklist / whitelist system. People can whitelist whoever they please and create giveaways purely for people on their whitelist. This allows users to reward whoever they feel needs to be rewarded, rather than the somewhat blunt and imprecise instrument of CV.

So how do you reward people which contribute to this site who you don't have "personal" contact with? Sorry but this isn't really satisfying. The whitelist/blacklist system does just replace the private/private group giveaways. There is no substitution for pure contributor giveaways.

Thanks, I was aware of living in the real world before you told me so. It's not like the new site will not be for me, I just wanted to point some things out which will obviously limit the features of the new site.

White list and Black list aren't replacements. CV giveaways were automated, but unfortunately exploited. A white list can't make up for setting $30.01 or $500 on a giveaway, its just a group without making people join the group.

Ok, that makes sense now. So the CV system is not really replaced but rather removed completely. Seems like I did get that wrong in some way.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I wouldn't say that. For the same reason there are people who try to "abuse" the CV system, there will be people to make giveaways with free games even if they don't have CV to win.
When a bundled game is massively given away for free, there are giveaways created here even by people with 30.00 CV.

They are free to people who register new accounts, even though people can create fake accounts to get them that's against GMG rules so people who respect the rules and already have a GMG account don't have access to those free games. It's not like everyone can just click a link and get them automatically. What does it matter anyway.. Bundled games.

Who gives a shit about GMG rules? As far as I see they dont give a fuck about hoarders
They are kidding themselves if they think im gonna buy a 40 bucks game just to get the free stuff that should be avalaible for all members to start with

The entitlement is real here. "Free" and "free for new members" are different things.

How do you figure that it should be available to everyone?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well to be fair it's quite unfair that the new members get games for free while old members who've been spending money and supporting them for a while don't get anything.

Because nobody will pay real money for those welcome packs either way, maybe or will give much reason to use their overpriced as fuck store?

And tbh its one of the rare cases when i feel zero remorse for such

Omg, what a horrible person i am, nevermind i dont resell those or go CV hoarding, i only pick myself ONE of each packs and thats it, always for my personal use. Throw the rock at ppl who arr making money of these at the expense of GMG if you want to point ppl

I have to agree with you there, GMG used to give all members a free game once in a while, which I think was better than these packs. Trying to shut out customers who already support them is not a good idea. It makes me personally not want to buy from them again.

"Should be available for all members to start with" ..

Who the hell are you to decide for them what should and should not be. I cumulated credits at GMG and I'm not gonna put them at risk just to get a few free 'crappy' games. GMG don't owe you anything btw, if they decide to give some games to new people only it's their call.

I already spent my GMG credits so in all honesty i couldnt care less. Beside i dont decide for them and sure its their call

The same way as i take myself the liberty to use the system as I see fit. Oddly enough nothing happened ;) Makes me laugh how some ppl take this way too seriously than it should be

You dont approve it, im doing it at my own risk, lets just leave at that (hinthint: nothing would happen either way, they dont care)
