Which upcoming survival horror remake do you prefer?
Silent Hill 2 and 3 have always been available for PC and with mods they are the best.

great one, for me Is my first SH and the better one.
maybe becouse it was the first I played, I know many people liked more SH2 or even SH3… I personally didnt like SH3… but liked a lot SH4 and Origins and SH5, and many didnt like those.
I was specting a SH1 remake, memorable game for me. still looking foward SH2 Remake, but... I need to see a gameplay to know if this Devs are doings things right, if its comes with to many changes, I'll wait for a future sale, im almost never preorder, just selected ones << I need to see if they will change the camara in all the game, I dont even like the idea.

The Resident Evil 2 was a brilliant way to make a remake... but I can't help feel that a remake is still "just" a remake. So yeah I agree.
I want something new, something I haven't seen before - so I have to vote for Calisto Protocol. Even if it ends up being very much like Dead Space was, it'll still have a new story/characters/monsters/etc. At least there's some room for surprises in there unlike your average remake.

I was looking forward to The Callisto Protocol, but after their director glorified crunch, defended the pathetic excuse for games' prices increase because the price has stayed at $60 while the producing costs have increased, and then tried to sell death animations as dlc, it lost me. And they are locking death animations behind a paywall, and an extra difficulty and horde mode, so there's no defending it. This one goes on the "only buy in a very steep sale" list.
Edit: and it has been announced now, a week before the game's release, that it has Denuvo.

Regarding price increase of games. I don't agree 70$ should be the new standard (which is set by COD producers, who re-releases a copy of their old game with some cosmetic tweaks and complains about higher production costs). Then i will stop buying games, or only buy on sale. You can only find so much value in digital pixels.

SH has just been dead for way longer and that makes people curious and excited for what's coming (myself included). RE4 has been re-released a bazillion times and the RE franchise is still going strong, and we have a pretty good base of what the RE4 remake will be like after 2 and 3.

Fuck, I am disappointed in myself more then ever that I can't handle horror games. All of these look great and would love to play them. But I'd probably wouldn't get past main screen.

all great games.
bought re4 remake, and callipso protocol.
dead space i see it overpriced, so I'll wait longer, SH2 and Alone un the dark, dosnt have price yet.
played all of them, even a part (never finish) Alone 1... (i was a kid in those days)
hopes te enjoy re4 as the first time, but already played 3 times on Ps2 and 2 times on PC, the HD version Is still great.
callipso its the only "new", but Alone remake look great and its way away from the original, i think ill feel it like something new
i love the idea of a remake of Alone the new nightmare, and Silent Hill 1....

I think: depending when you play it, I played new nightmare as a kid (like 18-20 years ago), and loved the game., could make a much different game if they use the "re4 camara", the story was interesting until the end, they smoke some weird shit to make that ending... jajaj
the games changed a lot since then, that Is true
when I see this first trailer of Alone 1 remake, i dont remember the game like that, not even close... so, I wait until I see result of this remake,...
one remake that isnt horror, but Im waiting is System Shock... I replayed the SS2 some time ago, to refresh my memories... (couldnt make SS1 work properly on win10.)
edit: "18-20 years ago'.. I went to Google the realise date, cause I dont remember in what year I played it,.... but was many many years ago.

I haven't played any of those... but I think Silent Hill 2, because of it's themes, visuals and music.
RE4 is available, moddable and well playable.
Dead Space is available and reached critical success
Idk what to expect from Alone in the Dark, haven't played the originals, and if completely lost its ways by the last games.

I don't trust Konami after previous Silent Hill attempts without Team Silent. Bloober team's games are also not something that inspire confidence in me when it comes to developing a survival horror rather than a walking sim. Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite games ever and while I'm excited for a remake I'm also worried that Bloober is just not gonna be able to do it justice, but I'll remain optimistic for now.
Resident Evil 4 remake is a weird one. The game still holds up for the most part gameplay-wise, and while the visuals could use an upgrade, they could've easily just applied the HD mod fans made on pc to a PS5 and Xbox Series re-release. It's also available on almost every platform you could have nowadays, so I'm really unsure about it. Regardless what they've shown is good albeit i miss Leon's and the Merchant's old VAs.
The Dead Space remake so far looks like a downgrade to me. Yeah the visuals are nice, and it's also nice to have proper zero-gravity sections rather than the awkward jump from surface to surface the original had, but the new plasma cutter model, sounds, and the necromorph sounds are a huge downgrade imho. I don't doubt the team behind it is full of passionate and skilled workers, but they're just no Visceral Games.
The Callisto Protocol looks so far very good but I do hate how they're trying to push a price increase of games as a norm, and locking deaths behind a paywall is also scummy as hell. I hope they go back on their word but for now I guess I'll just wait and see.
Alone in the dark was in dire need of a remake and it's been a while since we got one - the 2008 game was quite experimental and while it didnt always succeed, it was actually pretty refreshing and interesting to see regardless. I'm looking forward to this one the most, but without much information on it I can't really comment much.

"Bloober team's games are also not something that inspire confidence in me when it comes to developing a survival horror rather than a walking sim." Only played Layers of Fear. Judging by that and their other sometimes mediocre rated games im a bit sceptical.

All their games are similar to Layers of Fear in one way or another - I don't want to be skeptical because all of their games are also heavily inspired by Silent Hill 2, 4 and P.T. But only time will tell if they can really deliver a good SH2 remake. I definitely don't envy their position right now.
Also if anyone's reading this: Silent Hill 2 and 3 (the best regarded in the entire franchise) Are available on pc, and with fan patches, they run flawlessly while looking better than they did on consoles plus having a quicksave feature. I highly recommend playing them even after the remake is out.

As far as I know you can't buy SH2 or 3 digitally, only 4 and only on GoG... I'm lucky enough to still have their retail copies so I'd assume you'd have to either sail the seven seas to find them or be lucky enough to run into a second hand copy that isn't extremely expensive

Shame System Shock is not in the poll, otherwise I would've slammed my vote for that since I'm just a pathetic creature of meat and bone.
Like Someone already said above, The Callisto Protocol was something I was also looking forward to (specially when they refused to censor the game) until I saw the director start being extremely scummy, and the paywall is just a gigantic grievance that kills any hype. As for the other options, I'm one of the very few people who actually thinks RE4 should not have been remade and the new one (specifically the character models) doesn't look good. SH2 also doesn't look too good with how they're changing the vibes of it. So my voting options were left down to either Dead Space or Alone in the Dark. I haven't played either of them, so I can't pull any elitist "the original is better!!!" remarks with those, haha.
Alone in the Dark has been on my wishlist for a while so I decided to vote for that and I hope it'll be a good time.

RE2R showed that Capcom knows how to remake Resident Evil games. RE3R showed that they can still fuck it up. When I was a teenager, RE4 was one of my favorite games and it has aged fairly well and I just hope they learned from their mistakes RE3R

While i did (and still) enjoy RE3 Remake, i understand some complaints about it (I own and played the OG on console). It is a nice game (remake) for casual mindless play for when you just want to shoot some zombies mostly and don't care for puzzles etc.

Did anyone play the DS remake yet? I did but lost my motivation and refunded after half an hour of play time. Altho it seemed pretty good, may buy at deep sale sometime in the future. BTW anyone have any idea/guess when SH2 will be avaliable for pre purchase?

So there have been a huge trend of remaking classic survival horror games. I believe it may have started with Capcom bringing RE1 Remake to Steam sometime back in like 2015, with great success. Konami seems to have been studying the success of its competitor as well. Personally i'm currently looking forward to Callisto Protocol the most, just a few days from given release date. It just feels fresh and new (given the theme has been done multiple times before at least the world is new).
