i noticed that review after seeing recent reviews rating this game a lot lower than overall. there's another review that seems to indicate you don't need to use whatever type of account is attached to what this review is calling spyware and can just play with your steam account. it's been a long time since i played BL2 so don't remember if it needed some account beyond the steam account, but grabbed it on my kids' accounts so maybe we'll play it together when they get older.

on the surface (metadata) both look the same, but indeed the CIS one doesn't have the 'add licence' button on steamdb; maybe "install" works? I don't know and I can't check. might also need some fixing on the publisher's side, no idea.

if you're in a restricted country,
turn on a vpn, use a free one like windscribe or whatever,
add the game to your cart,
in the checkout you'll see a drop down menu to change your currency,
change it to the other currency,
it will ask u to confirm, then it will tell you the game is unavailable for purchase in your country,
-- this does not change your region, it's just temporary --
then use the search bar to search for the game, you'll now find the free one, add it to your account and disconnect your vpn.

they changed the terms of services so they can at any point do it and people are reporting bans for mods or using vpns
borderlands 2 is one of my favorite games cause of the mods. im not touching it again for fear of bans cause i still have all my saves that i was modding in. one of my favorite is being able to change to any class at any point

I have it on Steam with all DLC, but if I was to want to play it I might seriously consider pirating it instead of using my Steam copy atp. At least then I'd only have a 50/50 chance of spyware being installed instead of a 100% chance.
