Not Steam or PC related, but hopefully you people could offer an opinion.

I bought a Wii U recently, and Nintendo is offering me 30% any one Zelda title. I'd prefer something my kids (aged 6 and 8) could get into, I probably won't play it without them. I haven't played any Zelda game except the start of Twighlight Princess of the Wii, and I don't want anything retro. I narrowed it down to these two games. Skyward Sword has some appeal in that it has motion control, which I find appealing. Wind Waker HD is a native Wii U game, so supports off-TV play, which might mean it would get played more.

Any other thoughts?

For me, SS is an incredible game, I love it, one of my favorite tloz games, but if your kids are gonna play it, I think it's better to get WW, it's less "complex"

Wind Waker HD cuts down quite a bit on the sailing compared to the original, and makes it simpler, from what I've read.

Art style, from what I've seen of Skyward Sword, it's cartoony and bright. But maybe I haven't seen enough.

I've never played Skyward Sword as I skipped both the Wii and Wii U and I despise being forced to use motion controls, so given that I played Wind Waker on Gamecube and loved it, I am going to go with that. Some people find all the sailing a bit tedious (at least until you can fast travel) but to me it added to the sense of exploration and adventure and was a plus.

Thanks for the replies. Turned out there was a general sale in addition to the personal coupon, so I was able to buy both games. I bought Wind Waker HD first, played it a little with my kids and they enjoyed it, and I just now bought Skyward Sword.

They could have called it 'Full HD'. It does run at 1080p, after all. :)

As a big Zelda Fan I played both and I recommend Wind Waker, especially for the Kids, at least ít´s IMO the slightly better game overall
