I used what I found in http://steamgamedeals.blogspot.com/2012/09/gmg-total-war-shogun-2-75-voucher.html and I got my genuines when I activated the key, it seems the item are linked to the "ownership" and not the game package itself.

you dont get the item for BUYING the game, that'd SUCK for people who owned the games for a long time.

if you own the game, you get it.
