The best for me. The story is so incredible that makes The Lord of the Rings look like a story for kids.

i agree. that would be awesome. i doubt EA would ever do such a thing though. they are all about the future & not the past

I suggest Rayman 1 or 2 if you haven't played it on a toaster yet.

The old games on GOG are updated to function on the modern OS. On Steam you get the retail release, most of the time barely functional. So i get the old games on GOG because i know they will keep updating them for the next Windows OS.
Steam it's just selling the games, GOG does much more. Plus, the games are DRM free, can be installed anywhere you need them. You buy them, they are yours. You can make a backup, you get a ton of extras (soundtracks, artbooks and so on), the support is relatively fast (only the week-end is problematic). You can download them through site, GOG downloader or GOG Galaxy (i prefer via site as it's faster). Because of the Galaxy client we might see more publishers throwing some more recent games towards GOG. And sorry, but the Steam lately...

Most of the achievements are idiotic (pass the level, kill a number of enemies and such). And cards...What role do they actually have IN THE GAME?! None. Those are things that i can live without. Most people don't even bother with a 100% completion of the achievements (especially MP ones), while others are using third party programs to unlock them (illegal, but their risk, not mine).
So my question is: does cards and achievements improve your game?! If yes, in which relevant way (do they actually add to your gaming experience or are just vanity items)

also true.
and still. something about steam just appeals. don't know why
ofcourse the cards are a mean to get more games to get more cards. but you need a hobby :)

If you want a badge of that game, just buy them from the market. I wouldn't bother with Steam when i want to play an old game. GOG is waaay better.

i sell the cards so i buy another game with my steam wallet XD

I get that, My main issue is that I have invested alot into steam already, and while I will admit to liking the GOG idea more, the fact that alot of newer games aren't on there doesn't help. If GOG started getting all the newer games like steam and all, then I would still be hesitant to switch because of the fact I have a ton of games on steam already. If they we're so kind as to allow me to redeem all of my steam games on GOG, then I would probably switch in a heartbeat, but I highly doubt that is going to happen. I don't like the idea of having 2 platforms I have to use to play a mix of newer games. I am OK in cases like, all my old games on GOG, all my new/oddball games on Steam, and all my other games that are on neither on whatever platform I have to use (probably most likely Origin). But when it comes to the whole having them mixed between 2+ platforms, then I get confused and my organization starts messing with my head. Now on the other hand, if there was a 3rd party software that kept track of everything in a single library, and would login, install, launch, etc... the games without me having to go through multiple programs just to see everything I own, that Would be amazing!
Wow I went on longer than I intended with that XD There's alot more for that 3rd party program I would like, but ya, that's my reason for staying loyal to steam.

Well, i get the newer EA games on Origin, the stuff that requires UPlay on UPlay (Ubi store), old games on GOG. And GOG does have a program for getting some stuff on their shop from other online/retail stores (you can redeem STALKER series on GOG and if you live in the CIS/Russia there is Eador series and Mount and Blade series)

GOG won't ever have AAA games (no matter if good or bad, only "big budget games" won't ever be there), and because of that it's condemned to be a secondary platform, a magnificent secondary platform. If and when I'll be able to get through GOG Dark Souls series, or Fallout series, or The Elder Scrolls series, or stuff like that, then there is an argument. But big publishers will never choose DRM-free. So GOG will be a heaven full of beautiful indie games and The Witcher series. Nothing else.

Seriously? The game is yours on GOG? The only difference might be DRM if and only if Steamworks DRM is used on games, but other than that, a game is licensed to you. You never own a game, ever. Not even the disc copies or before that the floppy disc copies or before that the casette tape copies. The developers/publishers will always own their game.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete - not the HD crap
Master of Orion 2
Sea Dogs
Tzar: The Burden of the Crown
wish i could add Severance: Blade of Darkness but it was removed due to Codemasters loosing rights to it, no idea who has them now.

There's nothing inherently wrong with Heroes III HD. Other than the fact that it doesn't work with In The Wake of Gods.

Well, yeah, WOG's one of those too, unofficial as it may be. And the reason it doesn't work is because it's a patch for Shadow of Death, which isn't included in the HD remake. But as far as The Restoration of Erathia goes, it's a good remake.

Arcanum

I'm looking for some older games that can only be found on GOG (meaning not found on steam or origin). I can't realliy think of any off the top of my head, but I'm looking for games to play for nostalgia's sake~ If it's on Steam, I will probably just buy it on steam, as that's my distributor of choice.
