So far:
Stadia Premium kit
Slow Cooker from Lidl 29.90€
Tablet Samsung A7 10,1" 4G... 199€
Some unassorted junk...

Still missing any nice SDXC cards. I don't trust Amazon enough with those...

I've bought some pretty cool New Year gifts for my niece (still in the process of choosing gifts for my nephew), a small stock of deeply discounted hand cream and two large boxes of contact lenses. And that's it, I'm basically broke right now and probably won't buy anything else.

I bought a new monitor, so that I have two now. I figured it might make coding a bit easier.

coding - are you making a game?

No, I'm enrolled in a university program with a big programming focus. I'm currently doing programming basics and some app and web development. I will get the chance to make games further on in the program if I want to though.

It's a game changer. Going back to one screen will feel like a torture though.

Using three screens is worst thing for work... At office I would only have one...

um.. why? at the last place I had 4 and loved it

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

why? is it because the code is so long it has to be scrolled across

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

High res helps for that, but in general it is ability to see more information at one time. Like having code on one window and then documentation on other.

I saw that only once I think. A frontender I knew used to have one screen setup vertically, but tbh I rarely find that to be a problem.

It's usually the fact that you can open your IDE on one screen and something else on the other: another IDE, text editor, tutorial, Slack/Teams. It just makes it so convenient, because you almost always need something else open at the same time.

And then when you're back to one screen, suddenly you feel like it's really cluttered.

I like my implementation on one screen and my interface on another with a third for documentation.

Which monitor did you get?
I just picked up a Dell S2721DGF since it seemed like a good upgrade from my old U2412M monitor and was 44% off.

Acer XF250Q. Maybe it wasn't the best choice I could get but I already had an older XF variant from 2018 and I just wanted my monitors to match each other lol.

I actually haven't upgraded anything in my desktop since I got it in late 2017. I think it all looks good and works fine, and I don't see much of a difference between my monitors (but it could be because my other specs are behind). Buying a new monitor just to "upgrade" would've probably been a waste of money on my part. I guess I'm bad at partaking in this need to constantly upgrade stuff that other gamers seem to have.

Yea I don't care about regular upgrades either. My PC is going on 8 years old (other then the GPU that is around 5 years old), and my monitor is 10 years old. I'm sure I'll be using the new monitor for quite a few years to come.
My PC is due for a rebuild atp but going to wait until sometime next year for that (and will probably keep using my old GPU until can find a newer one at a sane price).

nice one, atm it is sold here for 310€, to bad i got my m27q before for 370€ ... still, my best monitor purchase

Specs wise the two monitors are really similar, though the M27Q has an extra feature where it can accept a 4K signal and downscale it automatically to 1440p (which is great if you want to connect a PS5 to it). The main reason I went with the Dell was because I've always had good luck with Dell when it comes to quality control, and backlight bleeding and dead pixels seem really common with nearly all monitors in this price range. If you didn't have any quality control issues with your screen though then I'd say the M27Q was a good choice. :)

the only thing it has is minor ips glow, apart from it it works as intended, it can even lit up my room at max brightness :D

I bought a new light bulb for the bathroom yesterday since the old one ran out. Does that count?
I couldn't find the exact same as the old one anywhere, so the last place offered me a "close alternative' while promising it would be "even brighter than the old one". Yeah, it's total shit; even as a temporary measure I think I was better off without the cheap knockoff's low light hurting my eyes so definitely a waste of money. :T

Bought a new Monitor (Dell S2721DGF) and power supply (Seasonic FOCUS PX-750).
Both had good sales, and the ones I've been using are between 8-10 years old so was getting time to replace them.

So far I've wasted money on...

Walmart
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit - Remaster for Nintendo Switch $14.00
Anker Soundcore Select Pro Portable Speaker $50

GameStop
New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe for Nintendo Switch $26.99
Kirby Star Allies for Nintendo Switch $26.99

Amazon
Samsung Evo Select 128GB microSD $15.99
Samsung Evo Select 128GB microSD $15.99
Minus first $15 first app sign in promo.

Bioshock Collection Code In Box - Nintendo Switch $14.99
Borderlands Legendary Code in Box - Nintendo Switch $14.99
Minus second $15 first app sign in promo.

Samsung Evo Select 256GB microSD $24.99
Minus first $10 first app sign in promo.

Subtotal $204.93
Promos -$40
Total $164.93
Tax $12.30
Grand Total $177.23

I don't know how I qualified for the 2 x $15 and the 2 x $10 first app sign in promo, but I'm not going to question it. I should have another $10 promo in 48 hours. I'm not sure there'll be anything worthwhile on sale by then, but who knows.

Yup, all of those are Switch games. I don't have easy access to my PC since I injured my foot and can't walk, so my Switch is helping me get past the boredom of sitting around all day and saving what's left of my sanity.

So far I have restocked on coffee and tea, and I think that is as far as I am going to go. The next major purchase I am planning is a house, so I am focusing more on saving money right now than spending it.

As for games, I keep looking at the sales to see if there is anything I want, but then I look at my backlog and realize that buying anything at all would just be silly.

I tried to focus on gifts but caved and bought some things for myself.

For my 4 nieces: A Mandalorian and Grogu Lego set ($13), a Disney princess hair care set ($12), 30 pack of Sharpies ($12), LED strip lights ($7.50).
For my mom: A photo mouse pad ($5) and a free 8 x 10 photo (just need a frame)
For myself, I got for the Switch: Fire Emblem: Three Houses ($27) and Paper Mario: The Origami King ($27) and a 24 pack of energy drinks for $30.

Thinking about getting Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge and Pistol Whip for the Oculus Quest which are on sale right now.

Well, I won 50€ in the current Paypal raffles, so technically I "only" spent 350€ on a new phone (Samsung S20 FE) :P
Which was desperately needed... the screen of my current one turns black whenever the phone is cold, or rather not hot (even room temp is too cold), so basically I can't use it outside or at work, which... well, sucks for a phone...

I've bought a lot this last week....

6 Philips Hue bulbs and 2m lightstrip.
Powerboard
Some cheap plants.
A Quilt cover and sheet set
Two wall lights
Pair of boots

Not on sale, but also got paint and paint supplies and painted a feature wall this week.
Mostly stuff for my bedroom this year!

So not buying any games this sale.
I was considering a coffee machine, a phone (mines 5 years old and dying..) and a replacement monitor for my secondary monitor -24" or under (mine has a huge scratch down it) , but might put that off for a little bit now after focusing on bedroom stuff. I could claim the monitor partially on tax though.... :/

Lights were priority this sale ha
