I would say above 2 dollars is crossing the line for a stupid skin, and I would pay nothing for one.

In a third person multiplayer game (eg MMORPG, MMOTPS, MOBA) I'd be likely to spend a lot more money on skins and cosmetic items because not only can I make myself look nice for me, I can make myself look nice for other people. The most I've spent on cosmetic items in a single game is over $1101.66, and depending on how unique it was and the quality of the item I could see myself spending upwards of $50 for a single item/skin in a game.
In third person singleplayer games you lose some of the appeal of making yourself look all pretty because no one else can see you. On top of that, in singleplayer games modding usually becomes a possibility and often time modders can make higher quality content than developers themselves. I doubt I would spend more than a few dollars on skins in these games.
In first person games it just becomes silly because then even you can't see yourself.

Depends on who's skin out is. I only dress as the most beautiful people. Or I will dress as ugly people to do bad things.
As for game skins I won't buy them. They should come free or package with bigger content that is worth buying.

1$ tops. 2$ if the skin contains in-game bonuses.

+1
I'm not against buyable cosmetics, especially when the game is funded with things like that. I just wouldn't buy it

The two games that are on my mind right now are Killing Floor (I love the game but to buy the game "Rising Storm" which isn't really the same type of game for 2 skins is annoying. I'm not going to be doing that though I do like the change in skins.
A smaller one and less significant (since it does only cost $1 or so) is buying the current Humble Bundle to activate Awesomenauts a second time for the skin (unless its a separate key, idk).
The Awesomenauts one isn't a big deal though, I just noticed it recently and was thinking bout all games and their skins

1$ if the game is moddable, 0.5$ if not. Here's my explanation - if the devs already let you mod the game, then purchasing official skins is just a way to support the developer (TF2 and LoL are good examples, though skins i LoL are sometimes very expensive). Removing moddability and then charging for, what it basically is, a mod, IS crossing the line and shouldn't be supported (Littlebig Planet for example).

Considering that you can make everything else in the game but skins says all. But yes, not a great example. Maybe better one would be shooters that charge for weapon camos.

I pay over $40 so far for League of Legends skins and stopped. Pulse fire ezrael to much for one skin though I wouldn't dare pay anymore. pff

I would pay nothing. There are other games you can get by unlocking them through playing or download/install a player-made skin for free. Paying for a skin or even a stupid one is already inviting "microtransactions." Maybe at best, I would pay below $1. Anything more and I would give them the middle finger.

Borderlands 2 crossed the line. 1€ for ONE skin/head? No, thanks. And go fuck yourself.
Good thing we have talented people. If you guys are picking up what I'm saying.

We all know games now always try to get you to buy more.
There are few times where you can buy the skins with in game currency but mostly it's with real money. Sometimes the Devs even want you to buy another game made by them which can cost quite a bit more.
My question is, when do you think they've crossed the line?
