Go go nippon.
But it was my fault, i didn't understand that it was a visual novel and all that follows.

Uriel's Chasm has to be on this list. Even worse, there's a sequel.

Proteus, although it's arguable whether that could actually be called a game. There is literally nothing to do.

The game is pretty prominent about what it is, purely an experience, similar to Dear Esther, it fully delivers on what it claims to be. Why did you even get it?

It was part of a bundle I got for other games. I decided to give it a shot.
The fact that the game is forthcoming about what it is doesn't make it not the worst game I've ever played. It was still extremely boring (and I played it all the way through)

Technically, a game you didn't like isn't the same as a bad game. I've dislike many games that are by no means bad games, they are just not my kind of game, which is clearly the case with that game for you.

Ok, fair enough. It's not necessarily a bad game - it implements the idea it meant to well.
I just hated it more than anything else I've ever played :)

I can understand that, I feel that way about every MMO besides City of Villains, just personal preference lol

DARK... first truly awful game that comes to mind. Some really great ideas for making a good game, while clearly having no idea how to make a game lol Bad story, bad graphics, weird fucked up design choices, like the inability to just attack people in a normal combat way, it's hard to even describe some of what's wrong with the game, because it's so strangely designed, and foreign to what games are supposed to be. I'm sure there are worse games, but it's the worst game I can think of that convinced me I would want to play it.

I dunno, is it worse to have the obviously unfinished Superman 64, or the OMG you fucking tricked me, same game Aquaman, where you could be mistaken in thinking it was finished til you played a bit XD

Go watch JonTron's review on Youtube lol it shows off all kindsa fun horrors it brings to the table.

Project Night on Desura.
Only played 5 minutes, so maybe I'm being a bit harsh. But fucking hell, it felt like a bad joke during the first "encounter" with a creature. I actually laughed for a good minute and restarted the game after dying just to see it again, laughing my head off at the sheer silliness of the entire thing.

Probably some ancient C64 game. Most of them were bad, some were terrible.
But if we're speaking of recent games? The Path. Tedious, and practically oozes pretentiousness, made even worse by the dev attitude. "We don't know anything about gaming, but all games are obviously lowbrow trash. Except ours. Our game shows that games can be art. Nobody else has ever thought of the concept of 'games as art' before."

Possibly not the worst game ever played, but Heroes of Might & Magic 7 does deserve a mention for being a completely broken and unplayable mess. A game where your biggest foe is saving the game, because you never know if it will just randomly decide to wipe all the skills from your characters (this makes the campaigns impossible to beat as you're supposed to have characters that gain strength over the course of the campaigns, yet here it can decide to just say "nope, your character is as strong as a level 1 character again on the 3rd level). Apart from that, memory leaks, an AI that does the exact opposite of what you're supposed to do (feeding our heroes XP by sending small, easily beaten armies and just letting them stand right next to them, ignoring resources, spamming new heroes and so on). The game has had 8 patches, and what I'm describing is the current state of the game, not the state it was in at launch (which was mostly worse, except it did not eat your character progression, so it was actually possible to play it).

So many hipsters calling popular games "worst game" just to be different. I mean there are many games on steam that are literally garbage and you people call these popular mmos and mobas the worst game you've played?
But on topic, the worst game I played would be Woodle Tree Adventures.

Agree on your first point. But Woodle Tree Adventure was fun! Well, my kids liked it, and I didn't mind it once I got used to weird camera angles.
