Why did you join Steam?

The Orange Box. Actually, I had been meaning to join sooner, but wasn't playing too many PC games at the time. And everything I did have was still on CDs.

I had to join in order to play NBA 2K9 (my first game on Steam).

My friends all used it and told me how awesome it was, but at the time I had a really shit laptop that was on its last legs, practically incapable of playing anything. Then I bought my current computer and was all excited to put Steam on it and play some real games instead of Solitaire and Minesweeper.

Bought a CS pack at a local store,and never regreted it :p

So I can play shogun2 avatar CQ.

Wanted to buy AudioSurf and so I discovered Steam

I didn't know what steam was. A coworker of mine asked me if I have a steam account and then I googled a bit...

I had to get it to play MW2 a couple years ago.

I got Eets for beating "The Heist," an iOS app.

I think it was because I needed to join to authorise my copy of Empire Total War although I might be wrong about that, but that seems like the most likely reason why I needed to get Steam

I kept hearing "great things" about TF2 and decided to try it out.

Got the orange box some time ago. It told me to redeem them on steam plus my friends wanted me to play alien swarm with them :P

Because Valve made the then-not-free-to-play Team Fortress 2 pretty much un-piratable so I bough the Orange Box during Christmas... and that's how my descend to madness started. O_O

Bought TF 2

My friend wanted me to play TF2, so I made an account.

Little after TF2 was changed to F2P and a lot of F2P games were released, then the Portal free promo I decided to Stay on steam :D

Counter Strike was the main cause. Bought it for Full price, a month later it was on sale for $2.5 lol

I got Puzzle Agent and Eets free from the iOS game The Heist.
