Hey! I have had my keyboard for about... three years now. I have, so far, never cleaned it. Recently it started giving me some issues. Buttons keep staying pressed even though i released them. So I'm guessing that it's quite dirty from underneath? Should I clean it?
Thanks a lot! Also, the model is Lenovo LXH-EKB-10YA in case you wanted to know.

Well, that seems to be the only logical solution, the only other solution is to buy a new keyboard. So yes....clean your keyboard.

It is kind of like asking "There is mucus coming out of my nose, should I clean my nose out?" Well of course, that seems to be the first solution..

If you hear littles screams when you use your keyboard like "oh no the sky is falling again", or sometimes there is some smoke comming from it and it smells like BBQ, also you see small glowing spots there in the night......then....don´t clean it ...ever...and never touch it again!

+1 I've had my keyboard for 17 years and haven't cleaned it. I'm waiting for it to start typing on its own.

If you have to ask, without even reading the details, yes. Clean it.

I am not sure if you should buy a new one as you will be back here in another 3 years asking the same thing.

Why would you not clean it,then ask should i clean it or get a new keyboard, your doomed to repeat this cycle unless you clean them, they are not that hard to clean, time consuming but not hard.

You could also maybe look into one of these
https://www.google.com/search?q=washable+keybaords&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=washable+keyboards

Man who does not clean keyboard, destined to get sticky keys

Or do not clean it and typing will be a crap shoot with each press of the key you never know what will happen and maybe one day when you press a key you will win a game.

Most of those water resistant keyboards are just horrible...

Then again I did wash and dry my Filco and it survived, so some mechanicals are okay with that...

They may not be the best but eh what other options do you have if they do not like cleaning lol

I never bought into the whole mechanical keyboard not for the price i used one for a bit i was no better with that then with what i have now,so for me the extra cost was not worth it,and the clicking drove me nuts lol

No, the crumbles of pizza that are under the keys from a year ago are still edible.

Is it really that common for people to eat at the computer?
At least that is what I am hoping is the cause for the stickiness...

stickiness usually comes from a dead cells + sweat cocktail

It's worth at least trying to clean it. If buttons stick a lot, I'd recommend a new keyboard, but cleaning might work. You can just pop keys up by prying them up (try to use the least necessary force, but it might have quite a bit of resistance) and then use a q-tip (I've heard many recommendations, but apparently q-tips don't leave too much fiber behind) with rubbing alcohol to gently lift away any dirt. Then once you've cleaned the problem keys pop them back on and see if it works better. If the problem persists the switches/springs might be damaged, and you'll probably have to replace it. You may also want to clean the inside of the keys.

Depends on type of keyboard.

If your keyboard has removable keycaps, just pull them off, wash them, and then wipe the keyboard with a cloth or use compressed air or use a straw and blow through it.

Otherwise you'll just have to deal with air and cloth if they're not removable.
