In honor of my (belated) birthday and in light of the ongoing pandemic, I wanted to run a giveaway for a frequently wishlisted game. Rather than run a poll here on the forums to select the game I'd offer, I decided to just peruse the wishlists of various steam groups of which I am a member. Ultimately I decided to pick a game that I personally enjoyed, ranked highly on a lot of users' wishlists, and was actually within my budget: A Plague Tale: Innocence.

A couple of rules:
First While this is a level 0 giveaway, I am using SGtools. The rules are secret but shouldn't be too difficult for most people to qualify.

Second Only enter if you intend to play this game within in the next 2 months. I am doing this giveaway--in part-- because so many people are stuck at home during this public health crisis. While I don't object to people who idle games to farm cards in general, I specifically bought this key to brighten someone's day during this difficult time. If you don't want to play this game, don't enter. It only takes 12-15 hours to 100% this game and even less if you skip the collectibles achievements. You don't need to complete it, but make a credible effort.

Third Please keep all comments polite. This community has really come together since we've all gone into lock down, let's keep that cooperative spirit alive.

Finally, this is my first time trying to use SGtools. If something goes wrong, please let me know in the comments and I'll do my best to fix it. Stay safe and have fun!

The giveaway will last for 3 days. Here's the link

Edit: Giveaway completed and winner has received their game. Thanks for playing, everyone!

Happy birthday! Have a great year!

Sadly I couldn't pass sgcheck. Anyway I heard that this game is great, it's in my wishlist. Good luck to all entrants. Thank you for generosity by the way!

Happy belated birthday :o)

My account failed to pass the req., hm, no problem if the hidden rules work right but i don't have multiple wins, not activated wins or something else that give me a direct red mark.
It's hard to know if that is something for your "If something goes wrong, please let me know in the comments and I'll do my best to fix it" or if your rules work how you want because they are hidden for anyone else as you^^
So maybe take a look if they work how you want or not.

When I said if something goes wrong, I meant more like the link not working properly so that people who passed the check couldn't access the giveaway regardless. I've checked out a few people who didn't make the the check to see if the rules are working properly and they appear to be.

The rules were meant to help prevent bots, people who use SG just to trade games with a small group of their friends, etc. I tried to keep the individual requirements low (e.g. there is a Real CV minimum but it is quite low so most anyone who has been active for a short time on this site should qualify) but covered a broad range of issues (i.e. real cv, s/w ratio, have you done some public giveaways, etc). Unfortunately, there's no perfect way to set up a SGtools so sometimes people got blocked who would have been unproblematic winners.

I plan to do another non-bundled game giveaway in a month or two, and I'll likely switch-up how I run it. I like to change the requirements so that different people can qualify. For example, my last non-bundled giveaway on this site was Ori and the Blind Forest which I restricted to the U7 group but otherwise placed no limitations on. Next time I might try a puzzle or something.

No problem, it never give a perfect solution and it will always hit a few innocent ones if you work with rules.
For the "unproblematic winners" i would advice you whitelist or group GA's. I made the best results with them and because of a lot of negative experiences with public GA's i prefer the WL/group ones for my GA's.
Sgtools protected GA's + write a thread, make a table for it and so on, were for my taste too much work in the end -but gave good results too-. As example this one: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/zTBQJ/1st-cakeday-gas-for-you-partly-with-jigidis-o

Yeah, group and whitelist giveaways definitely have their benefits--my first big giveaway on this site was a group one-- but I do like the idea of keeping giveaways as open to the public as possible. Whitelisting a huge group of people would be the most effective way of making sure you keep bots and the like out while letting everyone you want to enter; unfortunately, if one still wants to keep it generally open to the public that requires a lot of vetting work. shrug I find the best solution is just to switch up how giveaways are done so that if someone innocent is excluded from one, they might still be able to enter the next one. But every giveaway creator has their own preferences.

I talk since over a year about the need of more checks and actions against rule breakers, the autojoiners that are a big problem (make a GA and put in that public GA in the decription a not hidden link and the second one gets only 10% entries -or put behind the ? in a yt link the 5 letters GA code and you have only a handfull of users that enter a GA because from a lot of other ones the sniffer scripts -that detect uncommon stuff in texts- don't see that way as "uncommon". So you see very easy how infested the GA's are...).
And obviously it needs something against the extremest leechers with hundreds of wins, since 4-8 years around but never gave something back (none is too poor to give 1 cent back after years of winning -and each one that join this site have already 100$ in games in their steam account at the begin-. They leech the site to it's death because more and more users aren't willing anymore to be treated like game dispensers and have more and more work with all the rule breakers and such ones (That are a few of the reasons why so many generous users stopped to use sg).
Tickets about multiaccounts or other user reports take around 1 year to be solved. So the pure paradise for bad users.

A friend catched one with 44 not activated wins, my highest one were with 38 not activated wins. Both 4 years breaking the rules constantly.
And the sgtools checks costs time with unclear results because we don't see if red marks were handled in the past or not.
So it's stupid to handle it that way and not make a automatic check if wins got activated. If not, the enter button don't work, that would be enough to handle the situation in a much better and easier way. And with much lesser work for the support and the users that make GA's.
With the ammount of work you have partly after a GA, it feels as you get punished for giving something away.

Besides all that it is annoying to reroll a game 4x, 4x the work, for the support too, weeks of time till the game find a winner. Or run behind winners that they please please please take their wins. They are online at steam and sg all the time but don't react for up to 10 days (and reroll requests are partly slower as the 3 days they need after the 7 days are over and you are able to request a reroll). No problem if you have from time to time one such winner, each one have a reallife and something can be more important, but when you have up to 5 of such winners at a batch of 15 public GA's then it drive me crazy.

I would be happy to make, nearly, only public GA's.... and i will do that again when i am able to be sure that the winners don't broke the active/multiple wins/multiaccount/autojoiner rules.
Only set a level don't prevent it, i tested it over a year (at least till level 3)

Yeah, I've been pretty lucky in that regards. All my winners have eventually collected on their wins, although I have had to hunt a few of them down via multiple types of messages. SG support works hard, but there are nowhere near enough of them to handle all the tickets that get filed because--as you say-- there are a lot of people who abuse the site. Still, by being part of this site we get the chance to win some great games for free, so putting up with some hassle is worth it =)

I did pass the SGTools gate, but it's not something I think I would play enough. I hope someone wins that would enjoy it and have the opportunity to play it more than I would.
