We have a stellar field this year!, great for the Giro but quite a few riders I'd have preferred to see at 100% at the Tour trying to stop it from becoming a Sky/Ineos total domination...
Anyway, with Bernal sadly out, I see 3 clear favourites, and I could hardly pick between them : Roglic, Dumoulin and Simon Yates. Well, maybe this year the Giro is the real Tour ;)

And while Lopez at least is definitely not a TT guy, Yates really surprised me a lot. Maybe not totally out of contention yet, but waaay off from the rider that dominated the Vuelta!

The (in)famous Passo di Gavia has been removed from Tuesday's stage. The mountain is covered in snow and ice and has been deemed too dangerous for the riders.
A wise decision in my view. In 1988 the went over in the worst weather imaginable. Erik Breukink won but crossed the finish line more dead than alive.

As much as I like the Gavia, they had no choice but cancelling it, it would have been even more dangerous than 30 years ago, the road should be (mostly) cleared but there is a huge avalanche risk with 10 or more metres snow walls at road's edge! Here's some impressive images I found:

Hopefully the Tour will overturn expectations similarly :p
Anyway, Carapaz was very strong, probably the best climber together with Landa, and it's always nice to see great results from "exotic" countries. He likely won't be a future Tour winner, but surely a serious contender for Grand Tours. Bravo Richard!

Giro d'Italia 2019
Also running: Monaco Grand Prix
Here we are again; there's fewer and fewer cycling fans on here but with Tom competing I had to create this.

This event is a little more limited than the Tour de France event; no Tour Touristique and the preview is just a direct copy/paste from the official site.
