Do they have to be on steam?
Well, if you must...

SPACEPLAN - A short one, but very cool!

If you don't mind playing in browser, be sure to check out Universal Paperclips (It is free and it's a full game): https://www.decisionproblem.com/paperclips/

Starts out as a clicker, ends up as an idler, not a long game.

Some browser games that will occupy your time :
πŸͺ Cookie Clicker – you already know this one, don't you ?
🌍 Planet Life – (not really a clicker, but short & fun and worth a try)
🐱 Kittens Game – a Dark Soul of incremental gaming – β€œYou are a kitten in a catnip forest”
🏰 Sandcastles Builder – looks complicated at first sight, but don't worry : it is much more than what it seems :)

Darn, I was just about to post that one. Just got introduced to it by someone on my friend's list playing it. It's very interesting and fun.

Playing this one right now: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1147690/NGU_IDLE/
It's one of the best out there, actually. Tons of jokes.

Also https://candybox2.github.io/candybox/ It's short and it has a sequel.

Not sure of it counts, but I feel like it has the spirit of a Clicker: THOR.N I don't like Clickers, but I did enjoy this one. It's pretty short, if that's an issue. The only place I've ever found it, though, is in the Humble Trove, and it might not be worth it just for that..

Currently playing (free but steam version is paying one as it helps to support the dev)
I started to play Melvor Idle yesterday night. What's nice with it is that you can play on steam but also on their website and android/ios application (at least that's what I read) so currently I am playing on the website before buying the game :)

Free ones:
Realm Grinder - free idle game with events
I never tried this one, only a few month old

Paying one:
It's a clicker for 3,40€ currently, it's my go to clicker

They are on steam but have an app version too for your phone (not always compatible with steam), they have package to buy if you want but not always pay to win I think. I never bought stuff on them but I am not playing them currently anymore.
You can import-export that one btw your phone and steam
Your games are separate, a little strategy

And of course the ones suggested by the other users before me :)

Edit: My suggestions are mostly idlers Crush crush is a clicker with moslty boobs, Blush blush is the guy version.

I played Loot Grind Simulator, but it's only about going through the same few clicks until you upgrade everything, it's very repetitive, I wouldn't recommend it, only if you want a short game to get 100% achievements.

As long as they are single player and don't have in-app purchases in it, it should be fine. You might want to avoid games with dlc in case they are also a "trap".

1) Steam games NEVER have ads in them (Only possibly in some form of built-in game content, like a banner next to a race track in a racing game)
2) As long as you don't see any dlcs or purchasable in-game, there isn't any pay to win stuff in the game
3) Many free to play games are nice and not pay to win, so feel free to try free games
4) Just check out the games (which were recommended here, or some other) and if they look interesting to you, go ahead and try them! :)
