We have the setting to choose the platform in options and it filters giveaways... but it doesn't work with Sales. I know majority is uninterested because they use Windows but it would be cool for Mac and Linux users and seems fairly easy to implement now when games have a platform attribute in database.

Cheers! Have an awesome day (or night)!

Naah, this one is implemented and works now (giveaways only)... that's why I said it would be easy to use it in Sales as well.

Ah.. I actually thought the filter would apply to more than just giveaways for some reason.

Linux is for people who need something different from their OS. I intentionally didn't say something more because it's often less. For some it's the sense of freedom, for others it's usability or transparent approach, often security and privacy. Whatever is the reason, it unfortunately comes with sacrifice and lacks certain comfortable commodities - among others most of the games. So it's not about the taste... At least not for me. It's about changes in the world. You either feel comfortable with what you have, even though it's not perfect, or you fight for freedom without a price. This "fight" might not sound as much but it works, slowly, one eon at a time.

Does anyone actually use SteamOS as their main/only OS? (Or heck, does anyone actually use it at all?)

I use it. On a dedicated box. It offers whatever Debian stable does + on top of that it keeps the drivers up to date and is kind of optimised for gaming. I could easily use it as main but... I tend to break these optimisations a lot when messing with the environment so I prefer to use a separate machine for work.

I built a SteamOS machine for my neighbour as well. He uses it for gaming and doesn't own any kind of PC - just a tablet - for all of his other internet and computational needs.
