Hi guys & girls!

I've been thinking the past few days about this, and I wanted to hear you guys' opinions on this topic. As the title of the thread says; do you keep pictures of your previous partners / flirts, or do you delete them instantly to not get reminded or whatever? Do you keep them for a while but delete them when going into a new relationship or how do you do things? What is wrong and what is right in your opinion?
And no, I'm not just asking for 'lewd' pictures, but pictures in general. Hell, it doesn't even need to be pictures only but e.g. chats, mementos and such.

Feel free to vote in the poll and discuss freely! I'm eager to hear what you all have to say on this matter.

Do you keep pictures of your exes / previous flirts?

Yes, I got to keep alllll the memories!
Yes, but not the nude pictures though! Only the more innocent & silly pictures!
Yes, I keep the nude ones in case I would ever have the need to 'blackmail' them.
I do, but I'm considering deleting them all...
No!! As soon as the flirt is over or the relationship ends it's delete, delete, delete!!!
Njah... I keep them for a while, but afterwards when I'm over them I delete it all!
I've only ever had 1 partner and no flirts, so no need to delete memories!
I don't have a girl/boyfriend and never had one.

That was really deep and I never thought about it like that... Thank you. I think it'll change the way I think about and cope with my more stressful memories from now on.

Yep, and to make a little addition:

Deleted + deleted from social media + blocked.

Really not interested in getting those "Hey, how are you messages?" completely out of the blue. The answer's irrelevant anyway.

The only thing I've kept from my only relationship is a 3sec video of her smirking. Dunno, I just found that one rather captivating. I don't think it's right, though - I don't even wanna imagine what any future companion might think if they happen to stumble across such things.

For me it depends on the person and how things ended. I have some mementos (and racy photos lol) from one stashed away on a thumb drive that I don't really think about, and haven't for awhile until just now. We broke up because the timing of it all was not right and she just wasn't ready for it, which is not really a bad way for things to end in my experience. I may try looking her up again in the future and giving it another shot because we really seemed to have connection.... a better one would be my hope... so that's why I haven't just gotten rid of that stuff.

Depends how things ended. Personally haven't had any bad breakups or too much drama so I've kept everything, photos, gifts, memorabilia etc
There's no wrong or right answer though, it depends on the person. Some have an easier time moving on if they cut off every single tie and reminder, some are able to do it without that. If the issue is a jealous bf/gf though then most definitely nothing gets deleted/thrown away! Those relationships are a part of what made me who I am today and he/she will either have to deal with it or they're just not the right person.

I've never had pictures of an ex and never will :p I did have pictures of potential girls back in the day but I unfortunately deleted them. Would have liked to show my gf how cute one girl was :(

I've deleted them all at some point (yes, including the ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ones), but simply because I often delete old rubbish that I never use/look at.
I have very few pictures more recent than 2012, including photos of myself.
The ones I still have are in CD-ROMs so I can't really delete them - but the most useless CDs got binned anyway.

I have no ex, but I also have not much photos of my wife... I just don't need photo.
I don't believe them, it's mere images for taking place and collect dust.

The only thing I still own of my most recent ex is a picture of her dog because my mother really liked it. I miss the dog more than the girl xD

Is it not normal to save photos and skin samples so you can clone them in the future?

But, well, it doesn't matter, sometimes you can't really forget, yesterday I accidentally recreated her in dragon dogma :V

The right thing is to delete them, the human thing is to keep them forever and stalk their social accounts just to see what they're upto oh wow I had no idea those two were even interested in each other, oh I guess it's nothing serious, I wonder when they started going out, huh that's a long time, wait they have a cat??!? -____-
I mean delete them of course (。◕‿◕。)

I honestly delete everything, sometimes with a bit of regret. Problem is that perhaps it's me having difficulties to turn the page sometimes so I forge myself like in kinda everything in my life.
Once even forgot that I had the picture of my ex while I was with my girlfriend in France, I felt so bad with myself. That picture is probably somewhere there because I threw it away.
If you want to keep a memento it's different. I have items from my past relationships, but I think a picture is different.

I liked that movie but in my case I'm speaking about pictures/usb sticks and other data carriers in a carton box not the ex's themselves.

Those you can find in the cellar. :-p

Well, only have one ex-gf. For the moment I have kept most of the stuff (mainly gifts and maybe some pictures). But we did more or less break up on a good note. It just didn't work out due to the distance and some health and/or work related stuff. I think if I ever get a new gf I have to consider again what to do with it.

No matter how bad the relationship was, there must be some good memories. If you see the pictures and the first thought is something bad, delete them. But if the thought is positive one, keep the pictures.
Disclaimer: Don't take advice from me since I've never been in a relationship.

But that is the rational approach, if the pictures don't make you feel bad/sad, then there really is no reason to delete them ^^

You're such a hard worker, I know ^^

I usually delete most pics of my ex, since it would be difficult to explain to my new partner why I have them. In my experience ladies are very pissed off when their BF has such pics, but if they have pics of their ex you must be ok with that because it's just "memories of someone they cared of". I might want to keep some moments that were special despiter her presence (ex. going with her at my relative's wedding).
Instead I hardly delete chat, i like it to be recorded despite I never go read again old discussions. One thing is to avoid watching stuff because you will forget faster, but it's different to pretend it never happened. Even the hardes relationships have a bunch of nice memories.

Might be a cultural factor but out here ladies are all the same from that point of view.
Also they stress you when you see other female friends or university mates, but it must be perfectly fine for you when they see male friends or even their ex because "we are just friends, he would never do anything" LOL

This is a good point. I understand deleting pictures of people you just flirted with, but a longer lasting relationship is something which was a relevant part of your life.

Regarding longer relationships: Keeping them, since they're part of my life. Flirts or whatsoever: deleting them shortly after.
