An XBox gamer would tell you that it still is. Meanwhile you were able to play on PC for a long time already. There's a big difference between hardware exclusivity (bad) and launcher exclusivity (not nearly as big of a deal, imho). Having to use one store and not the other doesn't feel like a prison at all to me.

Yes, if you built a decent store with decent prices, I actually would buy there. Just as I already bought games on Epic because they simply were cheaper. Epic is the only real competition to Steam right now, so I happily embrace it. Because Steam needs competition. A lot of the stuff that originally brought me to Steam is gone now, and they could do that because there were no alternatives anyway. So yes, I thought before using Epic, and I came to the conclusion that it's a good thing. I have my main library on Steam, sure. But we need to lose this attitude of "no steam, no buy". We are just making the market worse for ourselves.
I have actually seen the same people applaud Sony for exclusivity, while bashing Epic for soft exclusivity (which is just using one launcher over another, to be honest). It's baffling how people can hold up this double-standard.

You eliminate any sort of competition by offering exclusive contracts.
The Game is only available on one launcher and therefore nobody can compete with. It's legit hostage in one stupid launcher. That's the most toxic and anti-consumer sort of "Competition" you are seeking.
Instead of offering better prices because of simply lower cuts and release everywhere so we - as a consumer - can take the better deal you're thriving for such drastic measures? I don't see that logic sadly but to each their own - whatever floats your boat.

People who don't have internet connection or a stable one at that, currently live in another country or whatsoever are not able to play any type of games because of EOS Infestion.
I don't see what kind of competition you want to support but I don't want to touch that store and its EOS garbage in any sort of way.
I can't even play Fall Guys that was once available to me through steam because they bought the developer and even if they don't buy it - EOS infestion into 3rd party games and account forcement is never an option to begin with.

It might be, although we don't know why they're still not releasing on xbox, it might be because there's a console exclusivity deal or they haven't finished doing the port or they're waiting for ms to pay for the port as they've done with other ff games. But we did know why it didn't release on steam before and it was because there was a pc exclusivity deal, which is not up anymore.
So in conclusion, we know the pc exclusivity deal ended but there might still be a console exclusivity deal going on. Launcher exclusivity might not feel like a prison to you but the fact that they didn't release on other launchers because of a contract and not just because of choice means there was one.

Steam built its success on exclusivity back then. I bet you if they weren't the quasi-monopoily that they are, they would do the same stuff that Epic does now. That's what companies do, they try to compete and grow in the market - unless they are so big that they don't have to.
I'm not saying I approve of exclusivity. But it's honestly not that big of a deal (I'm fine with Origin, GOG, Uplay, so why not Epic as well...), and I get why they're doing it. Because they basically have to, seeing that Steam is such a big player in the business and the customers are so extremely loyal to them. The exclusivity deals are not the actual reason why people go against Epic. If they didn't exist, people would just use another reason to justify their "no steam, no buy" attitude.

PC don't need exclusive games, those are for console manufacturers who try to sell more their consoles because they have that exclusive game. They are unsure about their hardware, so they try to fix it with software. Nobody buys a PC because a PC have an exclusive game (just forgot Crysis for a while). In a way PC has many exclusive games, all of those that are too heavy for consoles. Those games are not marketed as PC exclusive, but they are and PC players know those, there is no need for marketing them separately.
All we need is that game publishers would fund two versions of games, one with all bells and whistles for PC and then restricted version for all consoles. That would be enough, but it costs them too much when compared to the current model, where PC has mostly low-end console-ports roughly equal to console versions.
Exclusives are a great way to piss people off. Rise of the Tomb Raider's One Year exclusive deal for XBox One? Guess how valued PlayStation customers felt by that.
No customer EVER should ask for exclusives because they are inherently anti-cons

It was one of the first game I played on my PSP back in the day. I was exited to discover the plot, the graphics and sound were top notch (especially for an early game on a console), but the core gameplay was somewhat shallow. Especially the battles, since you fight a lot in this game. All you do is mostly spam one button attacks and wait till the spinning wheels of the slot machine stop. When you get a combo, a spectacular movie plays and massive attack follows. It looks so cool that it makes you forget that you have no control over these wheels, no strategy, tactics or resource mangment involved.
