Does anyone know what's going on with DSII getting a re-release?

Hi everyone,
Wondering if anyone has any insights as to what's going on with DSII's supposed re-release in the shape of "Scholar of the First Sin" Source What people are saying on the steam community forums for the game is that they are getting screwed out of the DX11 upgrade which they will have to buy the game again in order to get. I was originally gonna pick up DSII in the upcoming christmas sale but now I'm thinking I don't really wanna support a developer with these kind of practices, plus the fact that it would be a waste of money if these players are stuck with an inferior version come april.
Any thoughts or insights as to what From Software is doing?

And here am I, hoped for Dungeon Siege II and for that we will get a game that actually has working multiplayer :(

The game will get an update on pc that will add more NPCs along other things, the only thing you have to pay for is the updated graphics I think.
