Yes, the above linked thread is a good thorough explaination. In brief, the contributor value is pegged to the price on the Steam store, and when that is permanently lowered, the contributor value goes down here as well. Unfortunately, it would apparently be extremely complicated to work out when the giveaway was in relation to when the price dropped, so that it would require much more staff to work it out, which isn't really affordable, given that this website is run by one man. So, unfortunately, contrib value will go down occasionally for these reasons.

It really is disappointing to see people be so rude. Yes, he didn't read the FAQ; yes, we're tired of seeing this question. That's no reason to drop your manners.
