So, I caught myself a cold and now I sit here being ill.
Does anyone know a good cure?

Edit: Made myself a asparagus soup (didn't had any chicken) and a tea. Thank you all for the support :)
Edit II: After my first night I'm feeling a bit better, but still not cured. Thanks for all your tips^^ Helped a lot

Guessed as much. If you listen to someone from Finland or Eastern Slavic countries, vodka is essentially a miracle essence that is the perfect medicine to any and all possible illnesses. =)

I am from Eastern Europe. And you're right. Strong alcohol is often an answer to any question or illness. I found it looking like Zen advice - "Clean your mind and brain with alcohol". Disclaimer - this is not propaganda. ^_^

I live in one of your Western neighbours, but here traditional folk medicine also always, always includes at least three shots/day of distilled fruit alcohol (preferably over 40% proof). =D

Disclaimer: Depends how ill are you if you can't sit on a chair then this medice will not help you.

Get plenty of rest, stay warm & comfy, stay hydrated if you're sweating a lot. (hot drinks & soup/broth help with the last 2 points)
Don't force yourself to sweat lots though, that's mostly pointless. The sweating will happen naturally or not depending on which of the many viruses you've caught.

You sure its a cold? this is pollen season and many people get cold like symptoms even fevers and due to deforestation the tree pollen is getting stronger each year and many people who have never had allergy's to it now are,me and my wife included we became allergic to it about three years ago and the first DR we saw said it was a cold after about three weeks we went to another Dr who told us it could be allergys and told us to pick up some benadryl and a few hours later we were both all better,i had two friends tell me they were sick this week and i told them both to try benadryl and both felt better within and hour of taking one,not saying you dont have a cold but it could possibly be allergy's try a benadryl worst case it dont help best case you might feel better,ether way hope you feel better soon!

I know I'm allergic to pollen but my symptoms right now don't match my "usual" pollen reaction.
Also I've a sore throat and a headache. I'm prtty sure it's the flu

Buy yourself nasal spray if you have stuffy nose. Makes the illness 1 000 times better to tolerate with.

Just before a sleep you can also use sea water, it is cheap at pharmacy, it is working for short time, but the effect is almost instant and nothing I have ever tried allowed me to went to sleep so easily.

I usually limit myself to tons of vitamin C and honey, but many of my friends said that a rather unpleasant mixture of warm(not hot) milk with honey and crushed garlic helps much.
