I just put some cards on the market and couldn't believe what I saw there. It seems, Valve now wants e-mail confirmation, if you put expensive cards on he market:

Seriously, what is wrong with these guys. I really don't see how that helps anyone.

I believe it's for anything above $3

so this is not even new? seems i didn't put foils on the market for a while then. ^^

well, i don't see how that protects anyone. if my account gets stolen, the thief would try to transfer my items to another account, rather than increase my wallet.

EDIT: well, it would be a shame if the thief sold a 200€ csgo item for 5€. i guess that's what this is for.

I think they implemented it a day or two ago, so it's pretty new yeah.

No. I've had email confirmation for some cards I've traded as far back as 2 or 3 months ago. So I doubt that it is new.

Transferring items already requires email confirmation. This is to prevent them from alternative transferring through the market, I suppose.
If it's at a set minimum value, then it doesn't prevent them from lowballing your items, though. So I don't exactly see how it works either.

I don't think its new. I'm pretty sure there is a settings option that lets you choose if you want email confirmations for community trades.

I read about $3.

People who sold CSGO knives for 6.90 instead of 69 will be happy.
People who sell 100 $4 skins will be sad.

And people who will sell $300 knives for 0.03 will still be sad.

yeah, but you already have to confirm the price twice. that should already be enough to prevent mistakes like that.

Wut? Why'd someone buy a card for 3$+? What's wrong with people? :D

Trying to sell one for over $10 right now and in that case it's bronies. It's a Snuggle Truck foil, the badge is called Brony Pony and it's a rainbow pony.

Expensive set - and looking through it they do sell if staying patient. Seeing sales of $37 and $50 in there recently on the rarer ones. Unfortunately I have one of the more common ones with 3 on the market right now and am already being undercut.

OMG! Well I was never interested in cards or badges. I crafted one badge just for the feel, and I had enough. Oh and on SUmmer Sale last year, when you could help your team. I'm mainly using cards to get bundle games for "free" :D

And here I thought spending $11 on the whole set for my badge was bad :P

Auto-listers, mostly :P.

But some people say they did sell wrong item due to lag, when they clicked on different item but Steam didn't load properly.

Honestly, these confirmations upset me.
Valve do it because of all those gullible no-brain children who fall for every scam they come across (I suppose), but FFS... it makes us reasonable people feel like freakin' retards >:(

You can turn it off in your privacy settings, I think:

Confirmation of Community Market Actions (?)
Enabled - You will receive an email to confirm some Market transactions.
Disabled - You will not be required to confirm any Market transactions. Steam Support will also not provide you with any assistance in recovering items that may be stolen from your account, for any reason.

Enabled - Still no assistance from steam support.
So, what the point in enabling this "feature" ?

Started for me about 3 days ago. Only happens when I do items over a few bucks in my browser. If I list them from the Steam client, it never asks me to confirm. YMMV.

I feel your pain, I recently emptied out my TF2 and Trading Card Inventory...it's even worse when you have your phone and tablet both synced with GMail and they don't autoupdate when you clear them off the server. Nothing like having the spam from items being sold with the Market Listing Confirmation spam...still better than disabling all the confirmations and having no security protection.
