Hi everyone, this is just a quick post to let you know we added new Junior Moderators to our support team over the weekend. They are...

We're fortunate to have so many users willing to help our community over the years! We're going to look into adding 3-5 more support users in February too, so keep an eye out for that upcoming announcement as we continue to expand the team.

cg, if you would be interested in creating a role where it would have the authority to change app CV values in order to combat the fake overpriced trash on SG I would consider taking it.

We had bundler role before. It was removed and now everyone with senior + permission can do it.

cg wouldn't want to give me a senior role though. Perhaps a role with only bundler permissions or similar could be brought back. Then I could focus only on all those fake games like the current 45P batch recently. I have tickets for quite a few. Staff have been slowly getting to them over time but I would like the option to get onto them as soon as I notice them.

Watching over CV may be the most important job on the website, right after solving re-roll tickets. That's why it's reserved for seniors+. The previous bundler joined the site 6 months after owner, and I guess they knew each other quite well. That's why they were given the role. Don't think anyone would be allowed to change things on the no-CV and bundle list directly from being a general user.

I would personally prefer to have solution to problem of pennies shovelware being given away for 45 or 60CV, instead of playing never ending chase game. Can't think of anything that would work in reality, except for banning all this shovelware outright. But that would make people create giveaways for wrong games, as it would not be on the list.

I get that it's a tricky thing, but having bundlers who, say, would be only allowed to add games to the bundle list as soon as bundles are released would help quite a bit. There are, for instance, Choice titles from last November that still give full cv. It might be less of a problem than those pesky overpriced shovelwares, but it's still annoying imo.

If Steam actually had quality control, maybe that wouldn't be such a big issue as most of those "games" wouldn't be allowed to be sold on Gaben's store.

I must have missed that one, and maybe 1 or 2 in Dec when I was on holiday. In general they are added regularly, and I catch up any bundle that would be missed by other people.

I see that you've put them on the bundle list, thanks for that! ^^
but maybe you forgot Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - Aiko's Choice? It's still giving me full cv

Oh, I see what happened. I thought it's DLC or expansion for Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. But its actual name is Shadow Tactics: Aiko's Choice. OST is listed under Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - Aiko's Choice - Soundtrack, so when I searched for Blades of the Shogun I did not see it.

Fixed. Thanks!

I never thought I'd see the day, honestly. Good to see some positive changes.
Call my cynical, but now I just hope these support members are properly screened as they climb up in rank so as to not be abusing their powers repeatedly by enforcing rules that don't exist with seemingly no consequences, as it occurred... the Last Time™

Seeing all of these changes makes me wish this was like 7 years ago... I'd have thrown myself at the chance to be a support member just to help out. And same thing for that community poll thing. I miss having enough free time to even consider it. Is this what being an adult is like? :(

I'd call you a realist considering human nature.

The last time? When did that happen? (genuine question)

Oh man. This was going to be a short response, but this resurfaced some frustrating memories. I typically don't write complaints out in the open like this and I was hesitant to post this, but honestly at this point I don't care enough about how people will react to me speaking so negatively of a staff member despite the fact most people tend to respect them greatly on here. So this is going to be a bit of a rant. Get comfortable for a long read. :P

Quite a while back, new support members were added to the website. Some of these staff members eventually became mods. I had issues with one particular mod (I think they were a mod at the time, now they are super mod) for a while. Obviously I can't mention any name (not that I would even if I was allowed), but the issues were prominent around 5 years ago and even as recent as a couple years ago as well (I haven't been active enough since then to interact with them or see them being active on the forum since then).

They made up rules, and then stubbornly stood by those even when it was clearly pointed out it made no sense. Aside from other mods reverting back these actions and openly agreeing the mod was wrong, it doesn't seem there was enough integrity in the website's management to actually take any preventive actions with this mod and they kept on doing this kind of thing. It eventually lead to them basically destroying the SG side of a community I was very fond off by causing what I consider to be a very unjust ban, the deletion of a thread, and making our little community fed up enough with SG to quit participating on the forum side of the website altogether (we used to host some of the most creative and fun giveaway events, which has never again happened since).

I'm not one to get pissy and personal about how online communities are managed, but I can't help still being upset about what was allowed to happen. Although the rest of the staff eventually reverted back on the accusation our thread broke any rules, and we were allowed to continue to operate normally (again, confirming that mod was in the wrong), it seems nothing was done about the mod in question, as I continued to see them pulling that sort of shit on the forum.

TL;DR: Irresponsible mod never should have stayed a mod after repeatedly making up and enforcing rules that don't exist. It ruined a big part of a community I loved, and one that contributed to making this website more fun (which is quite ironic learning that cg has now implemented the whole polls thing in an attempt to generate activity in the community side of SG). I'm still bitter about the whole thing. It shouldn't be allowed to happen again, hence my advice in the above comment.

P.S. Sorry for the rant, this has been on my mind for the past 3 years and it feels so good to just let it all out. :P

I see. The fact that other mods were rolling back the actions seems like a very clear indication that the decisions made by that one mod were wrong. Hopefully, this doesn't happen again then! No worries about the rant, I hope you feel better with this out :P <3

Hey cg, just let me know. I'd be willing to help out. I'd been a supermod in a PC modding forum in the past. Plus, I'm old and responsible and try to follow the rules. 😂 Oh, and I have coding/sql skills, so depending upon what you need for mods to do, I may be able to help with things like manual edits for edge cases and yadda yadda yadda. If you're still looking for people, I'll consider being part of the next batch.

thanks everyone and congrats

Also like Grez1 i would also like to offer my services to help this forum as best i can, i always try to follow the rules and help people out the best i can and i always use this site most days - so i am very active - so i would love that my name is put forward to help with things like re-rolls for giveaways and helping the best i could with support tickets (i know that their has been some saying it takes a while to get a reply because how busy people are) - so if there is a place to apply i would love to do so - i would also love to put my name forward to run some community trains thought the year like the ones i have done for Christmas
