Yes it is close but that's not it. I think I might try to find the demo for that one because I do like the shield mechanic.

Nope, still no joy. If it wasn't a greenlight that never made it to steam, it was probably an itch.io or desura game. And the problem is that devs pull games off Itch all the time, and desura is long gone. But thanks for trying. My quest continues.

Wow! This has got to be it, or at least an improved version of it by the same dev? Just saw it as a giveaway on SG and recognized the character right away. It's called Hover X Souls Git Gud edition. Gonna pick this up right away and see if it plays as well as the original that I remember.
