Start with the first one and follow up until 3. Then comes 4 which can be really tedious at times, but you'll need to finish it because it's related to Angel of Darkness. 5 is kinda new to me, I never actually played it, and Angel of Darkness is generally ill-concieved, but at least it's easy and still kind of fun, so yeah. After that, you should play Anniversary first, then Legend and Underworld. It creates a fluent chronology between the episodes, as all Anniversary does is butcher the level count of the first game, and otherwise remakes it (mind you, pretty awesomely!). After that, I suggest trying out Lara Croft & The Co-op Experience, which is really fun, but it's a story on its own, and is generally a spinoff (hint: it's REALLY fun). Then, I guess you should take the new one, but I have yet to try it myself.

The TL;DR version: play them chronologically up to the 6th game; it's a nice showcase of evolution in gameplay. From then on, Anniversary-Legend-Underworld, as the story will get a better continuation in those, and the gameplay barely changes. Then try the spinoff if you want (not necessary), and the new one.
