Was wondering if anyone has had a chance of using Family Sharing yet? Only one of my friends I've asked has it,and I was wanting to know how it's been working out for you guys. Luckily,I got family sharing for BOTH of my accounts,so I've been able to try it to an extent

Edit : Also wanted to ask,it seems that you have to get on someone else's computer to link the accounts. Does this work with TeamViewer?

Well It's good in the way that others can play your games, but if you are playing a game and a friend uses your games then you will be kicked after an amount of time. Also if you play someone elses game then it will technically be yours, in steam's eyes. Therefore you cant win the game on say this site.

Always the owner has the upper hand, which means your friend can't kick you from your own game, but if you start a game, it will kick him/her (in ~5 minutes).

CG fixed that. I tested Bastion which hubby owns and I don't. The first day or so I was locked out, then CG posted he had fixed it and I've been able to correctly enter GAs for it since.

What we did was literally switch seats, log in on each other's machine (clearing any SteamGuard alerts this caused along the way), do the authorization, then log out and switch back to our own machines. Upon relogging back to our normal accounts all was set up and ready for use.

I think everyone in the Steam Universe group got their beta access. I didn't receive any notice / e-mail though, but it's there. If someone is not sure if they have it, check your account details --> licenses + subsriptions (search for "Game Library Sharing Access Comp") or go to the settings menu (search for "Manage Family Sharing & Devices")

Tried it for a week now. It work quite well. I think my brother is playing my Darksiders more than me now. I wonder if he is still able to play my game while I'm playing mine with Steam running in offline mode.

Edit: What's the deal with teamviewer? It's just a tool to remote control another computer's mouse and k/b. It have nothing to do with Steam. Of course it will work.

Yes, you can use TeamViewer to log in to your account remotely and authorize that machine.

I authorized my steam but now how can my friend use my steam library?

Launch Steam and login to your account on your friend's computer (either walk there or remote control)
Go to Steam -> Setting -> Manage Family Sharing and Devices and authorize your friend's computer.
You don't authorize your friend's steam account, you authorize your friend's computer.

Don't forget to deauthorize your friend's computer again when you are at your own PC. This won't affect the library sharing, but he won't be able to get on your account with your details. Settings>manage steam guard>deauthorize all other computers.

Works great tbh. I gave access of my library to 2 of my friends and they can just play a game whenever I'm not, and if I wanna play I basically just kick them off like a total kunt. >:3
That's the price they gotta pay for using my library I guess. I'm not playing anything 80% of the time though, so it's all theirs most of the time.

I tried it on my PC and my partner's laptop, seemed to work fine. She could install any of my game, and it booted her out of World of Goo 5 mins after I started playing something on my PC.

What I didnt like is that the shared games dont go to your played history. I like to keep track of how many hours I waste on X game.

I know it still tracks the times but the games only show on the recently played tab. Other than that the feature is really good!

TeamViewer works perfectly well, might be the easiest way to authorise without sharing your password.

FamilySharing appeared to be really useful for me. Right now crossharing libraries with my friend, works out very well. Also a great way to legally check out some game before buying it for your ouwn account.

Thanks for sharing the information, I did have the beta, but as others said hadn't gotten any notification. Will have to try it out to let my daughter play some of the games.

Everyone in that Steam group got in, they just didn't notify you. Also, I shared with a friend, just make a password for the occasion and change it afterwards, also deauthorize steam guard for 'all other computers' when you are done. (This is separate from the sharing)

My second account hasn't gotten Sharing yet, but this account does, and playing my games on my other account works fine. Granted, haven't tried to play a game on my main while my alt runs one, since I don't have another computer to do so, but so far it's looking fine

If you just enter the group, you have a 99% chance of getting in. I got in Oct. 17th, when everyone in the group got an invite, and my brother entered and got in in about 24 hours.

Anyway, it works well, just that some games like Bleed still share save files, which is BS.

I am in the group "Steam Universe" from the day they published it, I think, but I can't find anything with 'Friend/family sharing'.
I searched all tabs in Steam-Settings, and can't find anything. Can someone help me please?
Also, I would like to get a picture of this option if possible, maybe I missed it.

Thanks!

You are in the wrong group ... the steam universe group is for the steam box beta. You need to get into the steam family sharing group ;)

The one called "Steam family sharing(SteamFam)"?
If so, I just joined. When will I get the option to share games? Where would I find the option?

Thanks.

You'll get an email when you're in the beta and it will link you to the FAQ that exaplains everything... but you can google the steam family "sharing" FAQ yourself too.

Works great for me, had 2 accounts and had to switch from one to another... Now I use one account on a windows machine, the other on a linux one, and voilà :)
For the question about getting to someone's computer to authorize it: if you truly trust the person, you can just temporarily give him/her your credentials and let him/her authorize the machine. You'll receive a code from Steam on your e-mail, that must be also typed on the target computer. This is a matter of trust, I would do it with my brother, not with an unknown chat buddy :)

Well its a nice add, but the limitation that it has to one user per library is stupid. They should make it not to be able to play the same game not the entire library.
