I question the need of defragging the registry let alone deleting old ones in any operating system after XP. Even still, can it really tell what's in use and isn't?

I've had a lot of issues with such programs in the past, I always watch and check what it's "cleaning up" - However, twice in the past, it severely messed it up and couldn't even boot into Windows. So I don't take chances with them now.

I found CCleaner to be the best program available.

Last time I used a maintenance software was four years ago... when the said software gets bloated and running its task in background, taking up my resources. Kind of ironic, so I uninstalled it and just rely on CCleaner nowadays.

I used this for quite a while years back, but it seems to take too much effort to use just to not improve performance significantly if at all.

CCleaner is free and much more advanced

I use it. Favorite tool is the uninstaller. It cleans all the junk in the registry left behind.
