Hey whatsupp guys it's Max here and today we've a new suggestion Hey guys! I'm getting a new RAM soon and I would like to know which one of these is better for me.

DDR3 8GB 1866MHZ HYPERX FURY KINGSTON
DDR4 8GB 2400MHZ KINGSTON
DDR4 8GB 2400MHZ KINGSTON HYPER

This is my current RAM
more info on it

Small gib for the people kind enough to at least read my thread.

Thanks for the help!

That'd depend on whether your Mobo is compatible with DDR4 or not. If it is then go with the Kingston Hyper, if it isn't then go with the HyperX Fury

Before anything else, I'd get at least 16GB rather than 8.

I already have 8 GB, I'm getting another 8 to make it 16 :)

If you already have 8GB, then it is not a question of advice, it is a question of compatibility. Get a module that has the exact same characteristics as your current one, or even better: get another of your current one.

In that case, you should get RAM that matches the speed and timing of your current RAM.
Obviously you only have DDR3 or DDR4 already in your mobo, so get whichever you already have.

Then ideally you want another stick of 9-9-9-24 DDR3 1333MHz.
You can get faster than 1333MHz (like the 1866 you've listed above), but all your RAM will only run as fast as your slowest stick.

+1 ideally just match, screenshot of the next tab over (spd) would show model and serial # to easily identify.

I kinda feel obligated to tell him he can't mix DDR3/DDR4, just in case, too. :X

You can say it, I don't know much about how ram works so it's ok ^^

based on this you have 2x4gb kingston value ram. make sure in that dropdown box in photo you have a slot #3 & slot#4 (not just slot 1 & 2). and if you do then if so you can just go cheap.. spending more won't help ram performance, your existing ram will just hold it back to that rams performance anyways. but more ram is an upgrade either way.

edit: actually make sure you have slots with your own eyes on the motherboard.. that tool shows me having a slot 3&4 when i do not. (laptop)

It depends on what kind of RAM your motherboard can and can not use ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You'll have to either change the RAM altogether or get another one with the same frequency as others mentionned.

Your channel is dual so I guess you are having 2x4GB sticks
You can buy an 8GB stick but you will lose dual channel (not much different for normal users, even gamers, though)
Current DRAM clock is 669.6MHz, it means your RAM frequency is 1333MHz. You can buy 1866MHz stick, but your system will run at 1333MHz.
RAM type must be DDR3, some motherboards have slots for both RAM types, but DDR3 and DDR4 cannot be used together.

So to sum it up:
Kingston HyperX FURY DIMM Kit 8GB,(2x4GB) DDR3-1333, CL9-9-9 (HX313C9FK2/8)

I would aim for 2x8GB if you can are going to upgrade today if you're not going to get a new PC for a good while. DDR3-1600 is probably the least you should get and I think most games won't benefit much from higher speeds, but if you can get better for the same price.. may as well. Lower voltage (1.5v or less) is better if you even look that far into details.

Look at your motherboard's specs and see what speeds are supported. You can change the ram speeds from your BIOS if you have the option, too.. or should be able to. XMP makes it easy to do if you have it. My mobo is from 2011 or so, so you probably should have something like it anyway.
p.s. even if your RAM only runs at 1333MHz (even if your RAM is 1866), it might be because you haven't set it in the BIOS.

My mobo only goes up to 2133: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/P67%20Extreme4/?cat=Specifications

  • Dual Channel DDR3 memory technology
  • 4 x DDR3 DIMM slots
  • Supports DDR3 2133(OC)/1866(OC)/1600/1333/1066 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
  • Max. capacity of system memory: 32GB*
  • Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)

Need to know the model of motherboard you got, reading the compatible RAM memories you know what you can install.

What motherboard are we talking about anyway?
Some motherboards don't like some certain RAM sticks even though technically they should be compatible.
It's best to use 24 or 28, however 3 or 4 sticks of RAM shouldn't be a problem.
And don't bother with coolers on RAM sticks as they're just bling. Same for high voltage ones. Stick to 1,5V

Well to be honest I always had trouble with Kingston products (they also cheat on benchmarks) so I'd recommend you to get a Crucial ram if possible. If not, pick the one with the best cooler. You won't gain any noticable FPS from MHz changes, you'll even lower those MHz if you OC your CPU. So pick the cheapest one, if Crucial is not possible.

why spending so much for such a small boost in performance, ??? you can't get ddr4 and the upgrade from 1333 to 1833 is pretty small, better get a new cpu/gpu that will let you get way more power for your money

or just go in your bios and see if you can oc them
