Thanks for the info, however it looks like one has to constantly synchronize after winning games?

No, you don't have to sync for this. After you win a game you automatically leave all other giveaways of same game, and can't enter this game anymore.

Yup, I guess what's troubling OP is that you still see GAs for the game, until you do activate it and synchronize.

I got confused because I've experienced winning a game and then finding myself still in the others GAs before (without synchronizing), but that might have changed, so you confirm that this was changed?

"When your account is synced" so you still have to sync your account for that to happen, I'm already aware of that case

No, once again, it don't need your account to be synced. There is two points in that post - first won about games previously won. It does not mention sync, because sync is not needed for this to work. Second one - about games on your account that wasn't won on SG - if you activate new game, and then sync - you will automatically leave all giveaways for said game.

It already happens, which is what made me surprised about people blocking "double wins", like how do you double win?

SG uses the Steam API to check what games you own when your account here syncs with your Steam account. There are some games that do report correctly in the API and SG will think that you don't own the game. You will be able to continue entering to win these games even though you already own them.
You need to manually click the little eye icon next to the name of the game to hide these GAs for games you already own. This will hide them from your main list of GAs to enter, but you will still be able to enter them if you are looking through the discussions and go to an invite only link for one of those games.
Edit: I think what I wrote above should only happen on certain games you activate on your account that you did not win here. If you win a game here and mark it as received, I don't think you will be able to enter for that game again because the site knows that you won a copy already.
You used to be able to win the same game twice years ago, but I don't think you can anymore. I think what people are talking about happening now is just winning a game they already own on Steam (not previously won from here) because it was one of those games that the Steam API does not report correctly.

If you have hidden them on this site, and if you use ESGST (and have the option checked, which i think it is by default), ESGST replaces the "enter giveaway" button with a "hidden game" button.

I don't use ESGST, but that's a good feature. It would be nice to add that to steamgifts as an option. It shouldn't be hard to do since the site already checks your hidden list for every giveaway because it has to know to not display the eye symbol on games you have hidden.

Ah. True.
Also, rather than calling it a "hidden game button" (as I did earlier), I should clarify that, in fact, you cannot click on the "hidden game" thing, or rather, you can click on it all day but there is no button etc there, it is just a graphic that takes the place of the button.
Sometimes this is a headache if I decide to join one particular giveaway but don't wish to unhide every giveaway for that game. In that case, I have to turn off ESGST, reload the page, enter, and then turn ESGST on again.

Yeah, I would prefer if it was just a button that you can still use to enter, but it just acts as a notification to let you know you have that game hidden by changing the text on the button and making it a different color.

And also you somehow won the lottery and 2 same games end the exact same time and you win both xD
Noooot easy xD
Dunno what happens in this case.. Or if somebody made this crazy record sometime

That is what happens now. If you win a GA, you will be removed from all other GAs for the same game and your points will be returned. You will still see these GAs on your list of GAs to enter until you activate the game and sync your SG account, but you will not be able to enter them. The GAs will say "Previously Won" where the enter button would normally be and you cannot enter. If the GA creator does not send you the game, once you mark the GA as "not received" you will be able to enter GAs for that game again.

is it possible to make accounts auto synchronize after winning games, or would that cause some issues?
Comment has been collapsed.
The problem there is that the account synchronisation will only make sense once the key has been activated on the account. So if the sync is done when the user wins the giveaway, nothing will change, as they have likely not yet activated the key.
Functionally, the sync would need to be done when the user redeems the key on their account, but, once again there is no easy way for SG to detect someone activating a key on their account automatically. (Without the user manually synchronising, or, without an auto-sync happening).

I don't really see a point. If you win a game here, the site will not let you enter another giveaway for the same game, so I don't think sycing your Steam account would do anything. Currently the site automatically syncs with your Steam account every 3 days.

It does, it just takes time. Otherwise you can manually synch with stean after activation, if you dont want to wait.

I did not know that it leaves giveaways automatically. Maybe add a reminder to sync to the popup that appears when you win a game. It's a simple text edit that shouldn't be hard to implement and would make it easier for new users and won't make a difference to old users.

Immediately after winning a GA all your entries for GAs for the same game are automatically removed and your points are returned to your balance (which is one of the reasons for it occasionally going over 400 P). Before you sync or are auto-synced, the GAs for recently won games do show for you, however, when you try to enter them, the button is unusable - red and saying "game already won". This happens immediately after a win. The button turns back to green for a previously won GA only if you mark it as Not Received. So, no need to change anything, IMO.

I'm aware of that, but I'm talking about giveaways of the same game that a person already entered here
edit: just saw your edit, I believe the entries are removed only when you sync

Can someone confirm? I'm sure I had several instances where I had the max amount of points, and then I won a game, and after syncing, all the GA entries of the same game were automatically removed, but my points didn't increase. So, they're just abolished. Is that true? Or did I miss something? (I don't really care about the points, I just want to know how it works)
Comment has been collapsed.
All other entries are removed immediately after you win GA, your points are added to your free points at the same moment. Syncing can make only one thing - hide this game from GA's
Everything is explained here - link is in one of posts above...

Ok, now I'm confused. Do you or do you not need to sync to kick yourself out of giveaways? The link provided talks about refunding giveaways in the second point which talks about syncing. The first point only mentions not being able to enter new giveaways.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's true that when you win a GA your entries are removed from giveaways of the same game and all points are refunded. The only problem is if the giveaway creator doesn't deliver a working key. Many of the giveaways you entered will have expired over the week you just wait before marking the giveaway as "not received" which is unfortunate

I thought it made more sense to be automatically disqualified from active giveaways of the same game if you've just won that game (and get your points back). It kills the chances of winning a game twice (unless both giveaways end at the same time with the same winner). I can't see anything negative arising from this.
