Well it depends on the style you're looking to achieve, in any case you can just add it as an option.
Personally i like both.
However if you do choose to go with AA, you'd have to fix the text, cant be understood like that D:

Depends on what you want the feel of the game to be. Retro, no anti-aliasing. Functional and smooth, anti-aliasing.

With a bit of tweaking, I think the AA one would have a nice and unique-ish feeling and maybe some non-old-school kiddos will like the game style too. The AA one would need to have some details added after AA, like the eyes and fix some corner borders (like on the flags) or even make the borders less obvious.
But if you can and have the time, an option to change that in-game would be the best option.

Well, based on the above comparison, I'd say go for 8x AA, definitely.
The first images you posted make no AA look better, though.

No anti-aliasing at all

I can't decide if I should use anti aliasing, or not at all, or use it but scale down the effect.(I realise the anti-aliasing has blended the left eye of each character sprite, so just ignore that, it can easily be rectified)
