Can someone enlighten me on the difference between two games in the Gothic series?

Okay, so earlier today I got the Gothic Universe Edition since it's on sale on Steam. It contains Gothic, Gothic II: Gold Edition and Gothic 3. There's also the Arcania + Gothic Pack that contains Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition along with Gothic 3.

Looking at the pack, since the second one has Gothic 3 plus the Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition, I'd think they are different games, but the name is throwing me. I just want to be sure they are so I know if I am able to enter a giveaway for the Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition or if I should just add to filter.

Forsaken Gods looks to be a standalone add-on, a separate game from G3. They also show up as two separate entries in my library, if that helps, haha.

Yup Forsaken Gods is a standalone expansion. Just wanted to say Gothic 3 and that expansion are terrible. I spent 45 hours on them and regret every moment >_>

I spent way more time in game than you and I dont regret a Minute of it. Sure it was ridded with bugs in the beginning but i still enjoyed it more than any other rpg i've came to touch yet.

yep that is true. I usually dont rly get into them. But gothic was one of the few that instantly drew me in.

Forsaken Gods was developed by a mod team hired by the publishers after the developers of the first three games told them to fuck off. It's awful. 3 is not the greatest game in the world but after fan patching it's fairly solid.
