When I checked my inbox today I noticed a weird mail by Ms Donna Roberts that surpassed Gmails spam detection. It said "Attention" in German and roughly translates to "A beautiful charming lady has made a donation worth 3.5 million USD for you". Obviously a very serious matter, apparently I'm a millionaire now!
But the thing is: This mail was addressed to my SG mail address. Apparently some users on SG will add your mail to spam lists, maybe even some of the 10k giveaways are purely for mail collection? Luckily I'm using different mail addresses for each service, so it's not a big deal to me really, but since its been years since I was contacted by mail by a giveaway creator, I never thought about this.
You might want to check your mail address in your settings, just in case you haven't thought about this either.
Here, have something for reading this.

Now this is interesting to read. You sure its not just a random spam?
There is no way someone randomly sent spam to a mail address created only for SG on one of my domains. Atleast not this one as it's a combination of words reading something like firstname.lastname@example.org.
No thanks i already got money from Saudi prince
I notice spam in my SG email sometimes but I had never thought about this... you're probably right.
Checking my spam folder has became one of my favorite passtimes.
There are ways your address could have been discovered by spammers with only carelessness, not maliciousness, on the part of gifters. A possibility off the top of my head: a gifter sends you an email with a key. Your address is automatically added to their address book. The gifter later installs a shady phone app that snarfs up the contents of the address book for spamming purposes.
Your scenario is also possible, of course. Email addresses are cheap enough that it's a very low-value scheme, but who knows?
Sure, I'm not pointing with fingers, there's too many people I won giveaways from to do so. But whatever the reason of this, someone might want to prevent their super secret work mail from getting added to a spam list.
I've had the same problem.
It also does not help that the email is visible for creators years after the giveaway has ended. Whats the point? Shouldn't it be hidden once the GA is marked as received?
That's a good point. Then I could update my email with every giveaway won to find the culprit who stole/lost my mail address
Jokes on them, I've got so many penis enlargement pills on the way and women eating out of the palm of my hand! What fools they must feel like now!
omg that grave...
I will never get tired of this one, always brings smile to my face so thanks for posting it! :)
Well congrats on your newly acquired wealth! Don't spend it all at once! 🤪
That's a good point. It's sad that you shouldn't use your real email address anywhere these days or else someone is going to sell it.
apparently I'm a millionaire now!
apparently I'm a millionaire now!
Nice! Can you foward this e-mail to me? I also want to be a millionaire.
Congrats, guess we'll be seeing a lot more giveaways from you in the future!
Anyways, that's why you set up multiple email addresses right, they're doing their job =D
Interesting. Although it is not something that worries me too much since my spam folder is always manageable.
I do something similar with my domain, though mine hasn't been jacked... yet ;)
At least it seems unlikely that SG is selling them!
Just wanted to say that I appreciate you including the mouse-over text for that XKCD comic. I haven't seen anyone else do that.
Congrats on your 3.5 millions :")
Congrats on your 3.5 million, I hope you enjoy it and spend it wisely! 🤑 😎
Thank you for the warning.
You reminded me of these two videos:
don't go near her, she's a spy, she'll break your heart like she did mine 😔
It really wasn't my intention to spam your SG email address, I wanted to spam your personal one.
Let me know your personal email right away so I may remedy to this honest mistake.
And to help the process, I'll also take your credit card number, expiration date and CVC code.
my personal email is email@example.com
hope that helps
I wonder if Ms Donna is among those horny singles in your area or if she's more like royalty. In any case it's pretty shameful that you're a millionaire but you didn't immediately spend at least a portion of it for 9000 giveaways for this thread. :/
Anyway, interesting observation. Never been too happy about an email being visible to people on this site, even if my SG email isn't my "real" email. Will have to keep an eye on checking if I'll be selected as a millionaire as well in the future.
Who said they didn't? ;)
Ah yes, now that's what I expect from our resident millionaire! :D
Wow gratz! Thanks for sharing your windfall :) I'm sure many beautiful ladies will email you now too :P
Wow, Donna Roberts is a very kind lady. :)
I had a warning the other day about someone trying to get into my SG e-mail account. I'm guessing there's a bit of harvesting going on. Though I'm not sure how. Who has access to that e-mail except for winners?
