Sleeping Dogs and dlcs

The game is fine without DLC. The skins add alot of flavor and special skills to the mix (clothing sets = bonuses)

The extra DLC does add 2 extra little stories to the main game, one is a parody and the other is like a Chinese flavored Halloween story. Good stuff all in all, worth buying.

If you DO buy the DLC, you should disable it first playthough, because it maxes out your character. (one of them, not all)

Yes, only get the main story DLC's.

This game goes for dirt cheap on sale though, usually with all content, might wanna wait.

DLC's are mostly cheats.They give money, most powerful skills and XP.It's pretty retarded if you ask me.
Some DLC's are about a story which has nothing to do with the main story.I'd recommend skipping them since you won't lose anything if you don't play them.

All the DLC's kinda suck. The assault rifle makes everyone around you panic and what not. I guess that is realistic, but it kinda makes it unfeasible unless you get in a vehicle asap. The costumes are sometimes cool, but they're not worth it for me. The halloween like dlc is kinda meh, I couldn't complete it like I did the main game. A lot of the DLC ruins the game, making it so you've unlocked everything before even half way. I do not even remember a time I was near broke, it made buying things a chore. I think DLC ruins this game, but Steam gives the ability to disable dlc now (unfortunately AFTER I played the game).
