1 decade ago

The point of the news is that you're now able to purchase new EA titles on uPlay too. Your argument is invalid.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Still requires Origin activation and playing through it. But nevermind this, the point is, that in what way are these publishers better than Steam, if they won't let people buy their games on it? What is gonna happen if Ubisoft refuses to publish its games on Steam next? They will create monopoly on AAA games and your argument will become invalid.

You can buy EA titles in many places (amazon, gamersgate).

I agree with having competitive pricing and having options for purchasing games.
However, I don't want to log in to different clients to play games from different publishers.
And to this day, I still loathe EA for making Mass Effect 3 & BF3 exclusive to Origin.

The world could unite and try to take down Valve, but it wouldn't make a difference. Valve have the loyalty of countless users and a service that is years ahead of anything other companies can create. It's simply too late.

I hate companies that are unable to accept Valve and instead, "try to get a piece of the pie". You're isolating the creative work of your games to a sub-standard service, thus reducing your userbase and more importantly, fans of the game.

Idiots.

UPlay is an unreliable and buggy mess; their forums are full of people complaining about how they can't play their games. The Ubisoft store doesn't function right often, doesn't remember your orders, and support is nonexistent. I don't see this really having an impact.

I think EA is an idiot, Ubi is a lot more intelligent.

I think is fair for EA to have origins, but hey are loosing sales, instead UBI uses ubiplay but also lets you buy the game on steam, while EA don't and that is a very idiot move, they will not have the same amount of users because people prefer to have everything on one place.

Then there is the GOG platform (in a different league) I have not bought any more games from GOG because their platform SUCKS, all the shorcuts is really annoying, I wonder if they will ever make some kind of Steam platform like, where all my games are listed and I launch them from there instead of having to download and the install and then put the shorcuts somewhere.

No I am not lazy but is just a messy system.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well then its point will be lost as it's a DRM free game provider and what you are saying is a DRM system.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

why is that DRM? You are completely wrong, you can have a nice frontend that updates and catalog the games you own and that has nothing to do with DRM, since that frontend could work even offline, so I think you are not very clear about what a frontend is.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I would still consider that client, or front end or whatever a form of DRM. Anyways, currently services like Steam or Origin already work offline.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

A form of DRM? LOL how old are you? do you understand DRM? YOU DONT NEED A FRONTEND, bah you are clearly ignorant about this.

1 decade ago
Permalink

So instead of discussing it in a civil way, as I was doing. You have to insinuate that I'm a child with some other personal attacks. Good job, sir.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If there is some application you need to run on top of the game (like steam, origin,U-play, GFWL), it's DRM. So clearly ignorance is on your side. Also gog rocks and yes, you are lazy (there is not one app, but library online where you can download DRM free installers of all games and their bonus content). Btw good old personal attack on age. If he doesn't share your opinion he must be young and ignorant (or even better, stupid).

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Who said YOU NEED? you need the GOG downloader? NO, you can DOWNLOAD them without using them, so NO is not needed is a FRONTEND made to make your GOG collection CLEANER and in one place withouth having to relay on third party software or mess with the shorcuts from every single game.

You can have frontend for DOSBOX that is a front end, I do it for my emulators, is that DRM?

lol Look on your dictionary and tell me what is wrong about calling someone IGNORANT on a subject? is that an insult?

I am completely ignorant when you talk about chemistry, the word IGNORANT MEANS LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.

ig·no·rant
/ˈignərənt/
Adjective
Lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated.
Lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about something in particular: "ignorant of astronomy"

SO HE IS IGNORANT when you talk about DRM or frontends because a front end doesn't mean DRM.

you see how is clear you are childs? only childs will get offended by the word ignorant specially when I SAID ABOUT THAT, I didn't say he was IGNORANT ABOUT EVERYTHING.

L-O-L, just L-O-L. Calling someone child is insult so GTFO.
Try to upgrade your reading comprehension. "application you need to run on top of the game" - now that wouldn't be gog downloader since it doesn't work like that in any way.
Shortcuts worked ok, and continue to work outside of programs like steam and origin for a very, very long time, the problem with your laziness is just your problem.
DOSBOX is emulator ffs, explain what it does have to do with front end that tracks you game on digital platform. Also if you think your precious "front end" like steam doesn't have to rely on DOSBOX to run dos games, you are sourly mistaken.
You can google word ignorant - congratulations, but no f was given. It still doesn't mean some people can't consider it insult.
If you react on something, please make sense.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

if no fuck was given why your long answer?

And no sir, you still make NO sense about why a frontend for GOG games is a DRM, explain that.

And once again WHERE does it say the application MUST RUN on top of the game? you are just making stuff, but you have no point.

Dosbox Frontend lets you CONFIGURE and RUN links and preconfigure settings for games.

Dosbox is an emulator (the same used by GOG) and you can have a FRONTEND where you configure all your games the way you want, so you LAUNCH the games FROM the frontend that way you have all your links in one program, with all the info just like steam.

But I can use that Frontend or NOT is my choice, the games are still DRM FREE, so your argument is so pointless and is obvious you dont understand what a FRONTEND means, because you are making arguments that have no meaning.

Calibre you know that? it tracks what books I have, the books i buy online is that a DRM? is A CATALOG, GOG does track what you buy on their site that is why you have YOUR LIBRARY online, that same library can be made a program from where you launch your games and STILL be DRM free.

Are you really that ignorant not understanding such a simple fact? or you are just an ignorant troll?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Do you speak english? Dafuq, find where I said anything about gog having any sort of DRM. I said it WOULD be DRM if they had app like steam or origin. And it was you who said their platform SUCKS. Stop arguing about things that have no connection to this. You want app that would manage all your games on gog but wouldn't run on top of those games, now how would you use that app to launch some game without running it? LOL, now who isn't making sense. You are just arguing about something completely unrelated and completely twist anything I say into nonsense. "You can google word ignorant - congratulations, but no f was given." Obviously you didn't upgraded your reading comprehension, since I am talking that no f was given about your ability to google word ignorance and you obviously have trouble understanding anything I say.

I've been trying for the last 15 minutes to figure out what the hell you just said, but you speak a level of retardese I've not experienced since "Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?"

Congrats. Now lay off the angel dust and start learning how to use GOG, a system so simplistic that it makes Steam look hard to use.

1 decade ago

Comment has been collapsed.

never thought about it.. but wouldn't surprise me if someone already made a universal frontend for starting up programs and/or shortcuts.
or you could just add the games into steam with the "add non steam game" button

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah I do add the game on steam right now, but the thing is that if you cancel the shorcut there is no way to run the game, you have to recreate the shorcut, since in the shorcut is everything, the call to the DOSBOX game and the configuration, I dont know is kind of messy, a frontend should be more adecuate.

And the Zip files should be an additional plus, so the game is always DRM free.

It is good that there is not monopoly, people should be able to choose what they want...
But what is not good -> titles which does not come on all those DRM services -> COD, BF3, and so on...
I think that is not fair for users. We want all games together. It is like three refrigerators - each in a different part of the house. One for meat, second for vegetables and third for desserts... :-)

Sure, as I said "COD" and etc... And that is not fair in my eyes.

I don't understand why EA decided to compete with Steam. They don't have the fanbase and supporters in general. They should have just stayed with Steam, coughed up the lousy 20% and achieved much higher sales.

My guess - Valve takes around 30% of each sold game. That's 30% that EA gains with every Origin-bought game.

Upps, my mistake. That's 70 was meant to be 30...
