Shadow of War: Is it really that grindy?

I did want to preorder it, but there are two main reasons I decided not to do it:

  1. A lot of videos on the internet are talking about the grindy nature of the game, creating more than 40-50 hours of boring grind to get to the true ending (or the awful microtransactions).
  2. A friend of mine quote "Remember, no preorders".
    Also, the Steam Reviews classify it as "Very Positive" so, I'm confused: Is it good or not?
    The thing is, I still want to buy it so, what should I do?

I even got the damn standard version! :Facepalm:

It was okay, it's just that it got extremely repetitive after a certain point. The fighting mechanics were good, until I ended up learning more skills and just spamming F :D. I never finished it (got to something like 70% or so) 'cause I got disappointed and felt like I've wasted my money on that buy. For the 80% or more discount that it goes for on a usual basis I'd definitely recommend it.

This. BundleStars pushed the first game many many many many times on sale for $4.99 for the GOTY edition. Wait a year, it'll come down, and then you can buy it on BundleStars.

I don't think it will be that bad (plus I'm a huge fan of MMORPG grinding so I don't think it'll bother me much), but haven't played it.

The score doesnt suprise me. I have no doubt monolith made a good game
With that said, 2K just recently added microstransations to a sports game, which made it incredibly grindy, and that just so you can play a normal game of what used to be NBA2K.
I really wouldn't be surprised if WB blocked the final ending behind a microtransaction paywall, because really, it's not even the worst case of it right now.
It looks like a new trend, to secretly move past the established 60$ price.

If it follows SoM its probably good. Doesnt prevent me from getting GOTY in 2 years for 5 bucks due to all the BS.

Doesn't really matter. Read the reviews, especially the negative ones to find out what are the shortcomings and if any of them= are important for you. Good game =?= good for someone

My advice is to wait for a GoTY version, which will probably include a bunch of DLC and expansions and stuff that removes the grindy last bit.
