What I don't quite understand is how this constitutes begging.
For example if someone said 'You don't have to thank me, BUT thanks is appreciated' does this constitute begging, am I trading for that persons thanks?
(Don't get me wrong, i'm perfectly fine not doing what I did in my original post, no big deal. I just don't understand how far this definition of begging goes.)

The +rep part gives it a bad impression (bit of a strawman argument if you ask me).
For arguments sake if a topic was titled free +rep (replace this with something that isn't inherently bad for a correct arguement, i.e. games/coupons/etc). And a guy said you don't need to give me anything when I '+rep' (again replace with something else), but it would be appreciated.

You've basically replaced the coupons (something normal) with fake rep (something bad) and then said it's totally begging. This doesn't actually explain anything to me why it is considered begging.
