So I noticed that my level has been stuck at 1.55 for a while I looked at this list: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/XaCbA/list-of-all-cv-levels-and-their-corresponding-real-cv
And I probably should be at level 2 I think, because I have given away 61 games at 99 cents each.

So is there a reason to this?

Contributor Value and Levels
After you give away a game 5 times (whether in the same giveaway, or in multiple giveaways), it will begin decreasing in value. The value is decreased by 10% for each additional copy. This means if you decide to give away 8 copies of a $10 game, it would add $74.39 (10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 9 + 8.10 + 7.29) to your contributor value. This has little effect on the majority of users, but prevents individuals from receiving a high contributor value from gifting a large number of promotional gifts, games obtained through pricing errors, or keys from contacting game developers.

In addition to pizzahut's comment:
You 61th copy of the game only raised your CV by 0.27 cents. If you want to gain contribution value, you should give away another game.

I think gamedevs shouldn't received CV from giving away their own games. Kinda games the system seeing as you can just generate keys for yourself.

Most people who have that gamedev tag here on SteamGifts are not actually developers - they just run those (in the overwhelming majority) shady curator groups who beg / harass / extort keys from developers to sell them or raffle them off of-site to get more members for their Steam groups. Of course there's also a couple dozen legit curators on SG who have the gamedev tag as well.

Clarification from MSKOTOR below

In this case however OP appears to actually be the person that made Classic Snake.

The reasoning behind this is that gamedev status gives you unlimited giveaway slots so if you wanna make mass giveaways with several hundreds or thousand copies you can simply request developer status.

Also as this thread demonstrates after the 5th copy of the same game you'll get less and less CV for every extra copy. So after 20 - 30 copies (not accurate) the CV drops down to essentialy 0.

Edit: Added a screenshot to illustrate the CV deterioration. The latest copy gave OP 0,2 US Cent Real CV. So everything is working as intended.

Are you using some script or userstyle to change the appearance of the sgtools page?

I think it should be SGv2 Dark, which (in my case) runs via Tampermonkey.

It's been quite a while since I installed it so I'm not really sure which of the listed methods to run it I used.

We require people to show us either proof they are working on a game on the Steam partner program, or they are tagged as "developer" on game community hub. It used to be that a lot of random people had this tag but not anymore.

I see. I've updated my comment accordingly.
I'm not online as often as I used to be so most of my SG knowledge stems from 3 - 4 years ago 😅

Will need to find time to double check users with this role but there are so many it will take a bit :D

Agreed. The fact they are complaining about not being level 2 yet proves intention too.

No I am trying to promote my game but I also use this site for private, so its nice that my level increases but I will continue to give away my game regardless if I get more points from it or not.

It used to be that game developers don't get CV for their giveaways. But it was in time before curators.

I understand why it was changed (people making alt accounts just to use their free keys to make giveaways, or people simply hiding they are developers to use free keys on normal account to boost it) but don't necessarily agree with it. Though curators who get games for free and make GAs to boost themselves are IMO a bigger problem. But we have no way of telling if key was bought by someone or is from some developer or publisher.

I think Steam should not allow developers to generate keys for curators, only for shops or bundle sites through some official channels. But that's not gonna happen. Even when there are so many scammers looking for free keys as curators, to sell them on grey makret.
