Stupid servers. I was also in the middle of a trade.

Since many people are telling that the thread is useless (and everyone knows what happens with Steam now) I'm closing it.

Thanks for making yet another thread about it.

You could have simply bumped one of the other 4000000000 similar threads.

To those complaining: Offline Mode still works. Most games work this way, so nothing is affected except online play and downloading new games. Just play offline for a little while.

create steam.cfg
edit inside the file:
BootStrapperInhibitAll=enable
ForceOfflineMode=enable
save the file

force offline mode activated

want to go online again?
simply delete the steam.cfg you created
start Steam

Heres a trick that seems to work when this happens to to me:

1)Navigate to C:\Program Files\steam (or equivalent on your machine)
2)Locate ClientRegistry.blob (yes thats the file extention)
3)Cut/paste the file to desktop
4)Relaunch Steam

Hopefully you can log in and they you can delete the .blob file from desktop, a new file will be created within the Steam folder

This is unlikely to work in this case, because the login servers either return a timeout or error code 48 (which is "TryAnotherCM", however I have no idea what CM could be)

No one would care, exactly.

Steam goes down for a few minutes and everyone loses their minds.

I think there is nothing wrong with the servers,
what's going on is that they stop them alternativelly since they're working on that steam family sharing program
it is unfair that you have no choice when the servers are down so they are doing a illegal action right there.
