Are you getting annoyed with all the Pokemon Go hype?
I know that feeling.. though once I removed the site from being suggested to me by chrome(now instead I go to the imdb page of 9 instead of 9gag ) and cant go back xD its so much better without 9gag and all this attention whores... used to be fun though.. several years ago...

I'm definitely getting sick of people either complaining about pokemon go, or shaming people for "liking a kid's game".
Like, just as a concept Pokemon Go is spectacular. It merges reality with the virtual world, while at the same time encouraging a spirit of exploration and social interaction. Honestly, I feel like if all the people complaining actually took the effort to try it with an open mind, they would see that it's really quite amazing.
Also FWI for everyone here, Nintendo doesn't have much of anything to do with this. They just have a deal with Niantic, the developer. Nintendo is not the developer, they just own the ip and profit.

Concept is spectacular I agree with you but keeping eyes glued to the mobile and standing in the middle of a road to catch a pokemon isnt something grand!
I saw a kid standing in the middle of the road with both sides traffic catching a pokemon as it appeared in the middle of the street!

Damn... How is it possible it took 3 pages into this thread for somebody to make a Murtaugh reference when it fits so perfectly :D
I tip my hat to you :)

I have to admit I haven't read them I've only seen the movie Eragon and even that just one time so I'm a little fuzzy on the details.
Without looking it up I wouldn't even have remembered that Eragon has an older brother.

its isn't that bad i mean people are happy but some take it too far and get hurt

It isn't even available in my part of the world yet to make it annoying. From what I've seen it looks fun though and since I'm almost always outside on the go, it wouldn't be much of a stretch.

My boyfriend and I have been playing it and we even casually talk to people that are trying to catch the same pokemons as us.
Yesterday we chatted for a long time with the dude who owned the gym from our area.
It's actually fun to interact with people (full grown ass adults) who share the same interests.

Exactly what's already being said here, the app is extremely glitchy. The game feels like an alpha.
Multiple times on catch the game freezes, and restarting the app I've lost both the spawn and possibly some inventory used.
Just the other day after throwing a catch, the target popped out and the screen was stuck zoomed in 400%, but still in catch mode - impossible to hit the target.
Other times I fight with the game trying to load stations, (the center is completely white) and while it's in this infinite loading i can't get any items from it.
Gyms were plagued with a 1HP bug (couldn't KO) for a good while.
And the game lacks any kind of tutorial, so you have to figure out just about everything. "Tips" in the menu is useless...
It's a really broken game and a reskin of that other geolocation game, i forget the name at the moment...

Just one more comment/rant - another observation / effect from this game, if you see a solo station lured, you can guarantee there's somebody sitting in a car on his phone. If you see 2-3 stations lured, you can guarantee there's a crowd of people ... and cars come circling around or idling in the nearby areas. No, seriously ... people are driving around idling in their cars now for this game ... gas money to burn I guess.

I dunno, Personally I don't really mind, people are enjoying it and it gives something to do on the commute. I'm still playing ingress though so I don't have the battery for pokemon go.

Reminds me of my younger self when I played Pokemon on the Gameboy Color and imagined what it would be like to live in a Pokemon world.
Seems like Pokemon catches exactly this idea, but I'm too afraid, that my expectations will be disappointed.
Might try it when there's a more stable version, and an actual official release in Europe.

It officially launched in Germany this morning :3
Don't expect TOO much out of it, especially if you're playing solo. Where it shines is playing alongside friends or really populated "hotspots" in urban areas like downtown parks and monuments. If it caught on there as well it's bound to have quite a few people around playing, and if you're not too shy you can easily strike up conversations, GO acts as the perfect ice breaker.

Give it a month or so to die down, do you not know how the hype train works?
This has basically taken over the Overwatch hype, then something will take over the Poke Go hype and the vicious cycle will continue with the next well advertised/well established product.
x4 bonus hype points if it's a phone app. -_-

About two years ago, when i was hype of AR, i know pokemon will be "real".
It's my high school friend's dream :D

Pokemon GO isn't only about catching 'em all (and finally fulfilling the dream from primary school, woot!), but about meeting new people with similar interests (geocaching/Pokemon). See the lure on the map? - go there and catch meet someone! The community literally flourished in past few days, at least in big cities in my country.
It is as well about finding new places one would normally never go. I've found few murals and a fountain in my neighborhood I've never seen before today.
I've been tired of the hype so I installed the app to see what's the fuss about. And I guess it was worth it already :3

I love it, I hate it, but I love it still. It's an abusive relationship with those shitty servers disconnecting 24/7

Update guys. I actually tried Pokemon Go and I hate it even more now.... I'll admit very briefly I kinda liked it, it did bring back some Nostalgia, but that wore off rapidly. The game is so shallow compared to the Gameboy Pokemon games. The battles are boring spam fests and catching Pokemon is boring too. This phone app is overrated as fuck. I honestly think if It didn't have the Pokemon brand name and recognition people wouldn't give it a second glance...

It's all everyone is talking about these days. It's starting to get annoying. Personally, I think Pokemon is kinda lame... I did like it a lot when I was younger. I got tired of it though.
