Eek, it looks like it's happening. The trend is entering the hate phase, where it's suddenly reversed and it becomes cool to hate on it. :P
Personally the app seems fine, has a lot of potential; and the craze could only be expected. People have been dying for Nintendo/Pokemon to do something on phones for ages, and what they came up with is a pretty neat/catchy idea.

I barely played it. I downloaded the app, logged in, and quit. Why? You couldn't get me outside and walking around pointing a smartphone at things with a death threat. I don't stay up to date on the Nintendo platforms now, because money, and therefore I don't play their games anymore, really, just because I do everything on PC/Mac/Even a tiny bit of Linux.
P.S. Also the little I heard about the combat system disappointed me. Pokemon was an RPG and the battle system used to have strategy elements to it, but from what I've heard of "Go", it's basically a graphically interesting clicker game that you can lose.

I don't really care. It's annoying to see it on Imgur/Reddit, but heh, I don't really care.

I love Pokemon go. As someone with a lot of health problems and an aversion to the outdoors, it's gotten me outside more than anything else has recently. It's also helped a lot of people with depression to get outdoors. And I know some friends who have made great friends by just going out and catching pokemon.

It's just something to pass the time until sun&moon are released

saying nintendo is geting kids outside is so retarded. it's time to stop.

I just got into it today actually. Gotta say I'm impressed with what they came up with to get people into it. If you have time, and are able to go out, and it's not too hot... which it is here in FL right now lol it's a fun thing to do for an hour or so a day.

*until you realize how shallow of a game it is to its actual Pokemon counterparts (unfortunately) </3

"I'm definitely getting sick of people either complaining about pokemon go, or shaming people for "liking a kid's game".
Like, just as a concept Pokemon Go is spectacular. It merges reality with the virtual world, while at the same time encouraging a spirit of exploration and social interaction. Honestly, I feel like if all the people complaining actually took the effort to try it with an open mind, they would see that it's really quite amazing."
I agree with this from your other post too, I just wish they did more with it. Also, yes $40 less but also has microtransactions. I wish there was a single purchase option. I hope they at least included basic Pokemon features like trainer battles, attack choices, level up, etc. I don't care about the EV Stat-ing or mini games, just basic experience :p
Comment has been collapsed.
Don't forget it's still in an infant stage. A lot of features that were always intended to be in the game haven't been implemented yet, with trading already announced to be coming in some update after they fix the connectivity issues. Casual battles were also part of the trailer so I'd say it's guaranteed it'll be a feature down the line. Leveling up is already implemented in the form of CP, that's doubtful it'll change.
Also it's worth noting that the microtransactions are COMPLETELY optional. Everything you can buy from the store apart from the bag and held pokemon expansions can be acquired by ranking up or pokestops(not so often for some but still it's a possibility). Also most of those items only give an edge right now that everyone is starting together as the faster you level the bigger the advantage you have. After people hit the max level(assuming there is one) they're only there as a QoL improvement that is not actually needed, like attract pokemon to you so you don't have to move. And to top everything up, the same currency you buy with your money can be obtained every 21 hours as long as you have 1 to 10 pokemon stationed in a gym for free. If they add candy packs, stardust, eggs with otherwise unobtainable pokemon etc. in the shop then I'd consider it an issue, but not at this moment.

I have a problem with it being in its infancy stage though because it feels unfinished. A part of me wishes they would implement the features before releasing it that way the fun doesn't wear off on people prior to their implementation.
Cp is weird as 1 stage Pokemon are sometimes really weak like Onix.
Yeah, I haven't used micro-transactions but it is because I have the benefit of working and going to college with Pokestops just a few steps away. Even then, progress is slow-ish. I can only imagine what it is like for people who don't have a Pokestop to twirl every 5 minutes for 5 hours. It isn't bad for me, but maybe for others.
Yeah, so I do agree the store isn't all that bad.
BTW, I have a serious curious question. When you use the Razz Berries or whatever they are called, do your Pokeball throws become terribly inaccurate? I can usually 1-2 throw land a capture (not securing) but when I use the berry, it is like my Pokeballs go way left or way right and I end up using 3-5+ before a capture. Just wondering if you or others have that experience too, as it is frustrating to me haha.
Also, thanks for keeping this civil ^_^

Ok, let's take this one point at the time :P
Personally I just view this as a public beta so I'm not that annoyed about the missing features and the problems so far. Sure, it'd be great to have more in but if they actually use user feedback on how to implement some of those aspects I'd gladly wait for them instead of having a predetermined system that may or may not be that pleasant. Also the "fun" of it I don't think is in the game itself(sure it is somewhat fun) but the things it has managed. I don't have many pokestops where I live so I wasn't all that hyped at first but a couple days ago I had some errands to run downtown(10 min drive btw) and found out how insane things are. You could not take two steps in the city center without finding someone playing, and it's not even officially released here yet. And the diversity of the people playing was also amazing, ranging from little kids, to hardcore gamers, to people in their 30s that have only played FarmVille or Candy Crash before, to parents with their own kids. INSANE! And if there's a lure on it's veeeeery easy to spot them and actually meet them! Had a blast that afternoon, it was what actually "hyped" me. And it's a pretty enjoyable companion if you just wanna take a walk, get some exercise but usually avoid it.
CP is still not compeletely figured out but what we know so far is that RNG plays its part but the biggest factor is Trainer Level. The max CP of the Pokemon is directly influenced by that. So an Oxyn you got at level 5 will be complete garbage compared to an Onyx you get at level 20 for one very simple reason. Let's say the max CP of an Onyx at lvl 5 is 100. Even if you were lucky and actually got a CP100 Onyx then, which was the best you could hope for, an identical pokemon at lvl 20 will have 400CP max(I don't think it's proportional that way, just using random numbers here) so getting an Onyx at 25% CP at that level is already at that same power. Your old Onyx will also have scaled regarding the max CP but not the current so you can train it to even surpass your new, stronger Onyx but it will need A LOT of stardust and candies making it a bad investment. That's why one of the best tips out there is to not power up pokemon before you reach a point where it's really hard to level anymore. It looks as 1 stage pokemon are bad because when you evolve you get CP boost but that's actually not true. What happens is pokemon with higher level evolutions have lower max CP so it's easy to find a seemingly weak one but for it to be at like 75% of max CP. That percentage carries over when evolving so your evolved Pokemon will also be 75% but with it's own max CP. If you're comparing a 75% Pidgeot with a 20% Electabuzz for example it's easy to wrongfully come to the conclusion that 1 stage pokemon aren't as good.
As for rural areas they're plagued with problems at the moment. Besides the lack of pokestops helping them regain items there's also a significantly lower number of spawn points(there's speculation spawns are directly affected by the number of connected devices in an area and the number of nearby pokestops besides the fixed time/location spawns). Seeing as there's already problems with some pokestops like cemeteries and museums I'd expect Niantic to reopen submissions for potential PoI to turn into pokestops, immensively improving the game for those areas. This is just speculatory at the moment though. what has been announced is they're probably gonna add sponsored pokestops, where businesses will be able to "buy" that pokestop indicator for their own premises. Capitalism, ho~
As for the Razz Berries I haven't noticed them affecting my throws in any way, although from what you said I'm assuming you're primarily using curveballs? I generally avoid those since I completely suck at them and the XP bonus is the same as a straight Nice throw which is insanely easier, so can't speak for that specific throw.

Actually, I was looking stuff up....it totally is a beta, or even alpha, being version like .29 or something haha. And yes, you raised valid points. I admit defeat :p
Hmmm...interesting. I noticed the CP Guage above the Pokemon before and understood the max/min it was portraying but I never knew the max cp is tied to your trainer level. Are you sure about this? My Onix (caught at trainer level 11) looks like it might only get to 300 while my Flareon caught at a much earlier level is up to 570 and seems to be able to get to at least 700. Imma just save my stardust then from now on.
Yeah there is nothing by me, but I have to go into the city practically every day anyways. I hope they do something about it. Also, my sister sent a pic from her apartments where there was a Ponyta, Doduo, Charmander, and Abra all literally just outside her circle and yet by my house, I might get a Ratata or Pidgey by me once every hour or 2 so the speculations might be true about connected devices.
Curveballs? WHAT THE TURD ARE CURVEBALLS!?! Ok wait wait wait, they are actually a way to throw regular Pokeballs? I never got how to do the "nice" or "great" or now the curveballs consistently. I still stick to the "I use berries and my balls go crazy" thing. I can even see my finger go more left, and the ball will dart sharp right ._.
Edit: Just looked up ball throwing. Holy smokes. It is time for me to become awesome-er-est-er-er

Actually it went to 1.something with the new update today on iOs, not sure if it's rolled in Android too by now, read it hours ago.
As said CP still has a lot of stuff that are unclear. There's not enough data compiled yet to even confirm that the max CP of each species at a certain trainer level is universal or randomly decided on capture for each pokemon individually. The only thing I can say with certainty is that max CP increases along with your trainer level. I've been following some pokemon I caught early and were at like 60-80% CP and now they're down to like 40% even though their current CP remains unchanged.
And if you have a spawn point in range of your house note the time. The one near mine is spawning like clockwork every hour at xx:28 and another one where I literally have to take 6 steps out my front door to be in range of also every hour at xx:16 and despawns at xx:31(not gonna dress and go 5m out my house for a Zubat xD)
You can throw curveballs by spinning the pokeball in place before throwing it. To get the added exp and +% in your capture you need the pokeball to hit inside the colored circle, a point many guides out there ignore. The smaller the circle the greater the +% of capture. Curve or Nice are awarded for almost full size, Great Throw(+50xp) when the circle is about two thirds or half size and Excellent throw(+100xp) when the circle is near the smallest possible.
Also there's nothing to admit defeat over, we're merely debating. As long as things are civil and arguments are not being made on unfounded bias everyone wins :P
Edit: It seems the article I read about the update actually made a typo with that 1 at the front. It's still 0. :P
Re-edit: The more I search it up the more conflicting articles I'm finding. Some list the update as 1.0.1 and some as 0.29.something. I dunno what's the right one but wth, who cares? :P

Ah, nah Android is still .29 since it didn't need some of the IOS fixes (I am on Andoid and Iphone haha)
Oh ok, interesting. I am still annoyed about my Onix though >_<
I will keep that in mind. Thanks!
Yeah and I was reading some throw closer to the top of the screen for better control 0_o
Eh, I was mostly just saying I am giving up my dislike of the lack of content :D
Now let's go catch some Pokemans!!!! (ew I said that)

It's free, of course it's not gonna be the rich world of Pokemon. It's a great first step for Nintendo to realize there are a ton of people who want Pokemon on phones as well. Maybe eventually we could get a true Pokemon title on our phones. It's a hell of alot less shallow than 99% of apps on the mobile markets as well.

Because most big news sites are usually trying to steer the thinking of their readers/viewers to a general direction based on an idology. They are steered by a group of people though.
Small sites like this are generally run by one or few really like-minded individuals who write their articles in the line of "I am right in everything and everyone should think exactly like me and follow my views." Yes, you could argue that they are against the "Big Money", but on the other hand: would you rather have your views shaped by a large group that thinks on massive scales, or by some wannabe thought-dictator who thinks the entire world should revolve around his beliefs?
Comment has been collapsed.
Again, that large group that "thinks" on massive scales just "thinks" what the money told them to think, i rarely read/watch any news at all, i think the world is 90% good 10% bad, but bad people have 99% of the sources so they just do whatever they want, so whatch any kind of news its just like punish myself

Not sure what kind of website that is, but the idea is certainly not bad.

Alex Jones is nuts. I really wonder if he smokes crack or something sometimes. I like Paul Joseph Watson though.

Most anyone likes some politically biased news anchor/blogger/opinion sayer type. I do too. It's just the question of how much one goes to believe everything they say. After all, even Bill O'Reilly was right sometimes. (Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery few times.)

I thought so.
Anyways, the idea behind these "news" is still not bad though.

so many people in the hype train for a franchise they never played because it's a big name and they think they'd look cool with their fake retro-nostalgia-nerdy-childy hipsterish attitude. also lol at going outside just to stare at your stupid smartphone. at least with the gameboy versions we would all talk together and all, not pretend to do something "social" just because it's outside and there are other humans around
Comment has been collapsed.
I dont have anything against it. I dont play it, but I find it funny that so many people go back to the roots.
Comment has been collapsed.
I like it, but it is a little boring, not what I expected. I like collecting things though. Here in Australia it's winter and we had hail just the other day, sooooo it's not really the best time to go out looking for Pokemon :/ Now it is a phone game, so we may be looking at around 3 weeks or so and then the hype will dispense and people may just forget about it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Cant wait for it to come here... so I can see how much more dangerous is to walk outside. Car accident almost happening because one of the parties staring at their smartphone or people bumping into each other and the likes...
From what I read some pokestops, gyms or w/e are placed in museums and making a mess out of it and its sad if you go out because of a game said so...

I might be wrong but I think nothing so far but you GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!

isn't this kinda dangerous anywhere with guns and home protection rules ? kid climbs over fence because nintendo set geolocation badly, kid gets shot as trespasser ! - just wondering if that has occured to anyone else, as I know that some of the old treasure hunt geolocation apps had people being chased off property before now.

There were people who were genuinely upset about this ? :D It's GTA. They always overdraw what they make fun of. It's called satire. Well but it's the Internet... people always have to be upset about something and if there's nothing to be upset about they make something up. Hell, a few weeks ago a buddy told me people on the internet were raging because they used music from Kanye West in the trailer for the new Assassins Creed movie :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, an interesting observation I made is that the really conservative right-wing types usually don't have a sense of humour. At all. Not even a tiny speck. They sometimes flat-out don't understand even an attempt at humour, especially parody/satire.

It's all everyone is talking about these days. It's starting to get annoying. Personally, I think Pokemon is kinda lame... I did like it a lot when I was younger. I got tired of it though.
