Just do it. Or you can use whitelist instead of group, if it's easier to maintain for you. Additive model will definitely work better for your case than subtractive one.

The difference is here on SteamGifts I can decide when I wanna talk while on Steam it has happened to me repeatedly that people try to chat me up in the middle of a gaming session and don't take the hint even if I repeat it like 3 times.

I get what you mean. But the thing is: those dictatorial states never really had an interest in communism. It was all about power, so that the "revolution" never ends and those people on top never have to give up their power, like it would be in communism.

Yes, Croatia had tendency to become separate from Kingdom of Yugoslavia. That's why one of it's regime was inclined towards Axis powers. It other part was part of Allied forces as communist partisan's, which won the WWII in this area.
But if you know what happen after that, it was communism with far more deaths than in WWII.
& yes, I had participated in removing of communist regime in Croatia.
& yes, I do remember how bad it was, when I couldn't get bananas as a child. As there were not enough gas, so people were driving with odd plates on odd dates & even plates on even dates. & that you couldn't get jeans, unless you go outside to Italy for it. There was no LEGO for us as a children. & computers were banned, as you were considered to be "enemy of the state" in Yugoslavia if you had one (or be a privileged member of communist's regime).

I ended up checking a lot of the entries of my giveaways for white/blacklist candidates. Once the BL was full I removed all the lower level users from my blacklist and stopped making giveaways at that level (not counting group/ WL). Right now I am at lvl 6 giveaways although I have not updated my BL in ages.
Also have a WL considering that a lot of people are probably going to BL you for bringing up such a topic.

I think I understand your limit pain. I can suggest you start public giveaways on higher level and filter rotten apples over that milestone. Cause you want blacklist users with allergy on giving, even 100k slots won't be enough.

Well it is individual preference for blacklisting. You can suggest it and see whether if it will be implemented. Giveaway is also personal judgement, you may think somebody is not eligible for your giveaway and you can always create it for those you prefer. But do take in consideration that even when you create a giveaway, the chances of winning by the person you intend to blacklist is low, especially when it was for public low level. Unless its a giveaway for delicate group. Anyway entering a giveaway is just like a lottery haha.

To be honest, it's impossible to blacklist 1,000 people for bad behaviour. I have been a member on a game website for 11+ years at the moment, and you can blacklist people that you don't want to play with or against. In my 11 years there, I have blacklisted the odd person for being a douchewaffle and I currently have a grand total of 2 on that list. Haha! And oh boy do they both deserve to stay there.
My SG blacklist consists of 1 or 2 people who abused a group I was in. People who blacklisted me. And a couple of people who exploited a GA to give 10s of copies away here, and crashing the system as a result. The dev was a really nice guy, I was chatting to him, and it kinda made me mad at the time that people exploited what was essentially a lockdown relief GA. LOL! Knowing me, I'll probably just remove them from that list when I forget why they're there. XD
If one can't remember why they put an individual on their blacklist, they probably shouldn't be on it. That's how I think anyway. =)

Well, I look at the contribution value.
If you looked at my real contribution value, you will see that I gave more in giveaways than what I won.
I guess it's just a matter of how you look at it. Like there are members who giveaway more games but mostly no value games or really low value games.
I can giveaway more games but I really tend to care about the quality of the games.

A perfect solution could be creating a new section for discussions, "Blacklist recruitment" - we've already got "Whitelist recruitment", so why not. It would be easier to ignore threads that OPs use to farm blacklists then (yes, I do believe that threads like this are generally created in search of negative attention, and being blacklisted is obviously a form of receiving such attention).

When I did military service, they told me that if I did not suffer an arrest, "you have not done military service or done anything."
The same thing happens with steamgifts, if you are not in BL I don't know where you are, but of course you are not in Steamgifts.

Perhaps some of the people have surpassed your standards in the recent years since you BL'd them. That'd be very hard to check. But forgiveness could be a possible route for you.
An easier route is to look for people who haven't logged in for over a year and remove them to make room for new additions. If people aren't using the site anymore, no need to keep them on your BL.

The blacklisting itself isn't really a lot of work but what I find annoying is the Blacklist documentation because people just have to ask why they are blacklisted and bring their drama into threads that have nothing to do with it.

Yeah, I agree. It hasn't happened to me for a while because I haven't done events since my Candy from Strangers calendar but that's why I usually give them the choice, they can have an answer if they insist but only in public and not in a private conversation π

As for some users, who have been long here (like me) & who have "some standards" - we have exhausted the list of 1.000 users.
Do some of you think that we should make Blacklist longer than 1.000 users? Vote.
Or is 1.000 users enough? Vote, comment.
Personally, I would even become a Patron, if that would give me an option to have more than 1.000 users on Blacklist.
Otherwise users like me would give only in the "group giveaways", hidden from the rest of the people who don't give pennies (& much less games here).
