I bought a few games, and forgot I was in a giveaway for one of them. I thought I cancelled all my entries, but missed one.

I checked my email, and I don't seem to have gotten an email from him yet. I'm hoping he'll reply to my steam friend invite before he sends the key.

If you have won, then you may simply send him a message so he can do a re-draw.

Well, I have them in my friend list, so I mentioned it to them.

The best way is in chat if they add you. If they sent an email for a key, Support don't like taking the risk of doing a reroll.

Here's hoping, eh?

This month was a high priced month, restocking some misc household supplies. With 15 USD remaining in the account, I can't buy him a giftable copy at 19.99 USD to replace.

I'll take the temp ban if he sends a key before checking his steam messages. This whole thing's my fault.

Bundles exist for it right now IIRC. So it would be a bit cheaper fortunately. :P

Definitely true, but that 15 USD is already spoken for. I'll need that and possibly the contents of my change cup for meds this month.

Perhaps I've cut the budget a little bit too close this month. Next month is air conditioner time, which I was supposed to pick up this month but some things got waterlogged. RAAAAAAIN! shakes fist

Eh, beats my budget. I had to borrow money to cover food while I pay other bills.

I've already tried everything I'm seeing in the thread. I was hoping someone thought of something I hadn't, or had a method I can't use, and someone came forward. DeltaBladeX has him on his friends list.

He is waiting for his request to be accepted, he mentioned that. I can bypass that. :P

Adding him is pretty much the only way. Unless you share friends, in which case you can ask (one of) them to deliver the message for you.

I was hoping for this as well, but I checked his profile and saw no shared friends.

Even if he does send the key, I can't see why Support wouldn't re-roll the giveaway in this case.

What do you want support to do if after a reroll the next winner gets a dupe or can't activate the key in general?

Not everyone who says they're in my position is legitimately so. The mistaken winner could use sell the key to a third person before the gifter selects new winner. Additionally, a second winner who hears about this accident could use it to his own advantage, knowing that it would be assumed that I had used the key regardless.

If he sends me the key before being warned off, then we'll have a situation on our hands.

If the creator was to send Cheeseburgermafia the key, I'm about 100% certain that he wouldn't use it or trade it, given that he's made this thread. Hence, it could be re-rolled without fear of the key already being used.
I once won a DLC giveaway, was e-mailed the key, and when I went to activate it I got the 'Product already owned' message. E-mailed the creator back saying I'd made a terrible mistake, and to request a re-roll with a screenshot of my e-mail. It was re-rolled a couple of days later.

I know I won't use it. The problem is that I'm not everyone else. Random Person X might not be so trustworthy. Theft-resistant policies protect all of SG from these situations.

I had someone reply to my e-mail telling me to reroll, and that felt reasonable to me at the time, so I think that you can just wait until he gives you the game.

If you have not activated it yet , activated the copy he gave you and make a giveaway for the one you bought

I know this guy. He's being a bit lazy at the moment and not communicating with people because he had a busy few days and needed to relax.

Haven't sent any keys or anything out yet, so don't worry, when it comes time to sort it I will. Unless of course a member of support can use this as evidence and run the reroll based on this. Saves making a ticket.

Also, anyone else who has won anything of mine - wait a day or two while I sit about in dirty pyjamas playing Baldur's Gate, eating unhealthily and getting my energy back. I've got a LOT to give away so it's a big task. :)

Hah, thank that guy for me. Accidents can happen on either end of the transaction.

I bought BG:EE as well. I played it for an hour or two and went back to Skyrim. I do intend to get back to it someday, but I already played through BG1-2 back in the day so we'll just have to wait and see. Still a good purchase though, because I want to see these sorts of retro revivals happen more often instead of supposed 'remakes' that are nothing like the originals.

I only had a passing knowledge of Baldur's Gate from back in the day. Was always a console gamer so missed out on classics like this. Then GamersGate had the Dungeons and Dragons Anthology pack cheap, so I picked it up and started playing and was enraptured!

Then I got hold of a cheap copy of the Enhanced Edition and I have to say it's not exactly groundbreaking in terms of what they have done - but I like that! They haven't changed it too much, added a few new bits, tweaked a few things and that works just fine. If it ain't broke and all that.

The new characters are what really sucked me into buying it though. An evil party is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better with Baeloth and Dorn!

So, as things stand I'm running 4 games of BG. One on the original straight-up BG+ToSC (good party, playing as a straight thief with a generic party of Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc and Dynaheir.) One on a modded version (BGT, BGNPC, Unfinished Business and a few tweaks) as a good cleric/thief with the same party as above. Enhanced Edition evil party with my amazing character Evil Dave, Dorn, Baeloth, Edwin, Viconia and Imoen and one Enhanced edition evil party game with a straight fighter, Dorn, Edwin, Viconia, Montaron and Neera.

BG2 has an interesting subplot if you're romancing Aerie. There's a child kidnapped by Bhodi. Even that little spoiler I just gave won't ruin the majority of it for you.

Leaning on Jahiera whenever possible in BG1 leads to a romance in BG2. It really works, in my opinion.

There's one with Viconia as well, as long as you don't push things to move too fast.

I really thought vanilla BG1 needed help in the all-evil party situation. EE fixes this nicely.
