I dont have PS4 or PS5 but my GF does. I know she will be very happy to see this, after seeing me play a little HZD from Steam on PC.

You don't know much about consoles, do you? For one, you can get cheap systems. Two, sales exist on PSN and in game stores as well, they aren't exclusive to Steam. PSN even used to do $1 flash sales. Also had a lot of free games. Not as common as Steam, but to be fair, most of them tend to be better titles that most of the stuff you get on Steam by doing X goals for free key.

With all the people I've seen that legitimately believe what you said above, I tend to believe the people saying it mean it.They have managed to ignore sales and discounts and believe consoles are a highly expensive option.

You never seen the PC Master Race people that claim Steam is the only choice that matters and is the only place to give sales?
I'm fine with Steam (got over 6000 games, would be a bit silly if I hated it), but those people, not so much. I'm into games to play games, so get a bit annoyed when I see people who claim other choices suck, especially with false reasons. And yes, it happens. A lot in some sites. -_-
Right now I'm mostly playing on consoles, though that is more because I still haven't replaced my dead video card, and the R9 200 I was given as a backup isn't up to running new releases, don't even meet minimum requirements for stuff I want. Although other than Nier (PS3), I've been mostly playing on XBO at this time. My GamePass runs out soon so I'm taking advantage of it while I can.

Bah there's always been righteous idiots in every crowd. Don't mind them, they don't deserve the attention.
I don't own a screen so I never replaced my old console and went on to PC gaming only (at my place anyway) but my old laptop is now seriously overheating and it would cost less to replace it than to fix it so I've been thinking of building myself one. Obviously that was in 2019 and now, well I'm like you, stuck waiting for the world to start spinning again.
So I've been thinking about a console and a screen instead but yeah I have all these games on Steam waiting to be played so it bums me to go back.

On the bright side, with a desktop PC monitor, you can always use it for both. Used to do that with my 360 back when my only TV was a CRT. Though with a laptop, you wouldn't have one of those either.

Just to confirm, they are free to keep forever and not just trial versions until May 14th? I added couple so now they say 'purchased' but still they don't show up under my 'owned games' unlike everything else.

They’re keep forever. I checked my list from the PS App and the games I redeemed a month-ish ago when this went live (but for HZD) are all in my list. It might just take a bit of time to sync/ refresh

Can still claim the game and get a valid system later. With the PS5 out, there are people selling their older systems to get the new stuff. I got a XBOne shortly after the Series came out.

Oh, I'm not sure if I'll ever get a new console to be honest. If I had that kind of money to spare right now, there would be way more useful things to buy than a PS4. Also, I guess that I'm not that much into console gaming anymore, although there are some exclusives I'd still like to play, such as The Last of Us. And a newer NHL game.

I recommend keeping an eye out anyway. Like I said, people are upgrading to the new consoles and selling their old hardware to fund the upgrade. I got a 1TB OneS for NZ$150 (around US$107) with a controller and two games. Good deals exist if you look around. :P

Oh I'm certain that if you keep looking hard enough, you can find sweet deals indeed. It's just that... until I get back to a comfy level of financial stability again, I will not purchase a console. It's really not a priority. If I still had my previous job, maybe I'd start looking for a used ps4 but at the moment? Nah. One day, maybe... just not now.

I don't use Now, but isn't it a separate game streaming service? Owning games on PSN probably doesn't allow you access to them on Now.

What I'm meaning is, owning them on PSN won't just give you access to them on Now, if they are there. It is a separate service. You would need to pay for Now if you want Now.

Well, no reason not to, at worst you just never get to use them and lost maybe 15 - 30 minutes making an account and claiming the games. You already missed Ratchet & Clank which expired last month, but between Horizon Zero Dawn and the nine games added last month (deal set to expire in a few more days), you will be good if you ever pick up either system. Might be able to find a cheap PS4 when someone decides to upgrade to the new system.

It says "As part of our Play At Home campaign, you can download and keep this game for free. Download before 14 May 20:00 PDT." Dates for other games differ. Does anyone know whether this is enforced and whether there´s a way to make the games stay in the account without a PS4 at hand to download them? Thanks!

There is no need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus to download and the download is available until 11:59 pm on May 14. The launch is part of Sony's Play At Home program to promote social isolation.
