I just want to get everybody's opinion on who their favorite and least favorite game developers are and why. My favorite is Bethesda because of how much time they put into making their awesome open word games and my least favorite is Digital Homicide because well, you know.

Favourite: CDPR. Policy, awesome games, being DRM-free, and quality.
Hated: Digital Homicide, and I hope I really don't have to say why...

After the Witcher 3 "fail" (Nvidia LameWorks, worse graphics than the preview), I'd be quite cautious.
Although it might've been just a misstep (and I surely hope so).

CDPR make great games but they pay their staff very poorly and the work conditions (think crunch) are very bad.

I don't think Digital Homicide can be classified as a Game developer, maybe Shovelware dispenser.

We need to come up with a name for crap like that. Crapware maybe.

The only reason Digital Homicide exists is to craft cheap badges before a sale.

I like Bethesda's games, but their business practices are greedy. They took quake legends, which had been free to play for years and decided to start charging for it. In the past they've raised the prices of their games just before major sales hit so sales prices are about the same as old regular prices. Recently they've recommended you go and buy all of Dishonored's DLC to understand Dishonored 2 better, and since Fallout 4 came out they've cut the sales price on nearly every single one of their games. Want to buy Fallout 1 to see the series' history? You'll pay $5 instead of $2.50 now for a 19-year old game. For comparison when Valve released Portal 2 they gave Portal 1 away for free.

Microprose and Interplay (mostly Black Isle). If I need to say why, you probably need to get a 1Gb hard drive, install windows 98 and call in sick for about a week. Or a month. And the living developers? Hard to say, except for CDPR and maybe blizzard, everyone seems to have a couple of horse armor dlcs under their belts nowadays.

Paradox Interactive - cool people, who make unique games that I care about + they do business like I'd do it too (mostly).
Obsidian - best story tellers
Naughty Dog - best character developers
Blizzard - come closest to delivering perfect games

Outdated favorite: Square from the 90s

Least favorite:
None. I prefer to forget about the bad ones.
But I tend to avoid buying games from Activision. No real boycott, but I haven't bought more than 3-4 games from them within a decade.

Obviously I can't dismiss the big ones, like Bethesda or Rebellion (I'm a huge fan of Sniper Elite and Nazi Zombie Army), but I tend to remember smaller ones, like Devolver Digital and tinyBuild.

damn, I forgot about New World Computing. They also published games by Delta Tao, whose Strategic Conquest I loved (and was one of the earliest 4x games; it could well be Civilization 0.1)
