I'm using libre office now and it's too slow and laggy. The interface also looks totally different from MS Office 2007 which I'm used to.

Unfortunately, I no longer have access to Office 2007.

I agree. If you use MS Office in your workplace, you'd better have a compatible one in your home computer.

LibreOffice <--- I have been using this for last 5 years. It is good and free forever.

Never had any problem with it.

everyone I think will suggest you openoffice..
I still stick to office 2003 and it's awesome, apart from compatibility issues.. GoogleD though is a good alternative, i wouldn't recommend libreoffice

A while back I tested Libre Office as well and had quite similar issues especially with huge spreadsheets, Libre Office was lagging and freezing during table operations and I then switched over to Open Office and it was working like a charm.
It's worth a shot if you are forced to use a free office suite, but I always consider the proprietary MS Office superior to the free alternatives especially for power users.

If office is a key part to you work you can always buy a key or go to a library/university and emm get the key they use and activate the software with this

You can try Calligra if you want something different from Openoffice or Libreoffice but it might not be as stable and compatible as those ones. There are also alternatives to individual software included in office suites that might be worth a try.

You can get a working key off site like Kinguin (grey market) for the 2013 and sequels Office. Like others said LibreOffice OpenOffice GoogleDocs are good free alternatives that suit most needs and you can just save / print in PDF to spare you of compatibility issues.
Edit. You said Office 2007. Maybe the Libre/Open it´s laggy cause the computer it´s too old to run it?

Suppose YMMV depending where you are but you can pickup licences for older versions of Office on Amazon for buttons.

No, though Latex is fine for documents and R isn't bad for statistical stuff... Powerpoint can be replaced with some web junk?

While there are decent OpenSource-alternatives, I must admit that MS Office is still superior in terms of usuability and feature-variety. I'd pay for the product every day over using some inferior OpenSource software.

Hey guys. Do you know any outlook alternative with outlook.com / exchange support?

Für general writing, calculating, presentation tasks I really think, open office is the alternative.

BUT, if you count Outlook as part of the office suite, i think, there's no alternative. Or is it?

I normally use Google Docs these days, but when I needed a real office suite I used SoftMaker Office. It's also sold by Ashampoo as Ashampoo Office. It's commercial but inexpensive, it's more lightweight than either Microsoft Office or Open/LibreOffice, has good compatibility with Microsoft Office, and the ability to choose between a ribbon and classic interface.

If you're willing to pay a little (it's currently $31 at Ashampoo, and this is licensed for up to 5 PCs in the same household), I think it's a good choice. You can try FreeOffice, which is a limited version of the same suite, but can give you a taste of what it's like.
