Pretty sure he would, since ROW and CIS have different appid they'll just sit alongside in his library. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct you. When it is the same SubID the game says that it cant be activated...when not you could activate like 3-6 Versions from each game when it is locked in several regions...

Yes, you are wrong.

I got the same trouble when i was in Germany and bought "low-gore" Titan Quest from here. I cannot buy or activate "normal" version anymore. Steam support told me to buy it for another account ;)

That's generally the common response. Just ask them to delete it.

I'm really not sure. I think you would still be able to buy and play your region version, because it's a different version after all. But you should have checked about region restrictions before buying that key. Using a VPN is actually in breach of the Steam Subscriber Agreement, and so they could lock your account for using one.

Best bet is to ask Steam support nicely to delete the russian version. They might not ban you if you admit you did a dumb thing by trusting a key retailer website when they said that it was all above board.

They wouldn't ban him for having a Russian version. They would happily delete it so he could buy and activate another version.

It may raise questions about how he activated it in the first place. I would suggest to stick to business trip version or just jump out of the window and ASAP get to some country that doesn't have extradition treaties with OP's country.

Ah, my bad. I didn't consider the VPN >.< I was referring to simply a Russian version of a game without region restrictions (like several on my account lol).

I have 1000000 lines dialog with support and they refused to delete any game from my library. All the told me is to create another account and buy a new game to this account.

Why would they refuse to delete game from your library? I've asked them to do it for similar reasons a few times, and each time after my explanations everything was OK.

This is Steam support ;)

I've asked support to delete a game from my account once and they were OK with it. Of course the whole thing has taken 2 weeks because, well, it's Steam Support, but they never refused to do it, just reminded me about "no refunds, no return" policy a few times.

Maybe it was being polite and patient that helped, maybe it was sending my nude pics in the first letter, IDK.

It took him 2 weeks to successfully fap to your pictures, I'd call that an insult. :D

I guess those nude pictures must have guaranteed you quicker service. I'm still waiting for them to delete the game I asked them to... so far, its been 17 months.

Fuck Valve's support.

Bad Rats is a special case. It's like a VAC ban, it'll never get removed. You'll have to create a new, clean account to get rid of it. :p

you can always contact Steam support and ask them to remove a specific game from your library.

They will get back to you, telling you that it can't be undone and that they want a final confirmation.

After the RU version has been removed you can activate a version for your region (unless they have different app IDs, then you might be able to have both registered at the same time).

Tell your brain that it shouldn't let you use VPN on Steam, if it doesn't listen shut it down!

You can redeem different regions. I myself have a EU and a RU copy of Sleeping Dogs in my library.
It did not need vpn for Sleeping Dogs though, so it worked even without the EU version.
I'd suggest to buy a copy and if it doesn't work contact Steam to ask politely if they would delete your RU version.

"Hey support, I used a VPN to buy RU stuff but it doesn't work, can you remove it?"

Nope, i wouldn't do that. Make another account, it's probably safer.

Yes, because you calling someone who got scammed an idiot for something bad out of their control happening to them is totally the same as me calling someone silly for asking "Hey, Valve, please permanently ban my Steam account."
