We rolled out a few important updates to the site today.

  1. The first major change is the way contributor values are calculated. In short, the update limits giveaways that might have originated from a bundle to 20% of your total value (Note: Giveaways created prior to a bundle always receive full value). Please review the threads from earlier in the week for the full details. Keep in mind, we'll continue to improve this system as time goes on.

  2. There's no longer a restriction on what games can be given away, assuming they're not guest passes or beta keys. Anything found in the drop down menu when creating a giveaway is allowed. If you're gifting a game from a bundle, please review that bundle's terms of service to ensure you have permission to do so. If you believe a giveaway needs to be removed, please use the report button. There's no reason to post accusations in the comments, and users doing so may be suspended for inappropriate behavior. We'll review reported giveaways, and remove them if necessary. The new system will ensure contributor values are not overly inflated by bundle games.

Thanks to everyone in the community for all the feedback the past week, and I believe we created a system that's fair for everyone. It still leaves room for improvement, and there are a number of great suggestions in the previous thread we'll be exploring in the coming weeks.

But all the games you're giving are on the bundle list. Maybe read the above post completely?

"Anything found in the drop down menu when creating a giveaway is allowed."
okay, so if the game I have and want to give is not on the list, then it is not allowed? D: Is there an explanation as to why they're not allowed? XD

  • some were free recently - search the forum for game title; if you don't find relevant posts, you could always open a topic and ask

  • some just haven't been added - you can open a support ticket and ask if the game can be added to the list.
(good idea to include link to steam app page in ticket)

Check the first and if it's not been free / exploited, go for the second option. I've done 2 such tickets myself.

Mine is locked at $30.00 , did two more giveaways and it's still at $30.00, feedback received for both.
Okay, they had * in them, but still ... I would expect something, not nothing.

i dont understand this - im on 30$ Value and for my last 5 or 6 Games i gifted i got nothing for it. I know this games are from bundles and i even bought a compelte bundle jsut to give it away here but why i dont get anything for it?

why i even should than post here more giveaways for public? I still have a lot Keys i paid for (sure leftovers from bundles but still paid for) so is it a bug or is this correct?

No, it is correct, being in a bundle means that you are not paying full price for those games, so why should you gain the full value?

"But even like that i should win the value i paid for"

How will the admin/mods/SG know where the hell did you got your keys and what price you paid for? It makes no sense, so that rule is in order to prevent leechers, people who buy games cheap to increase their CV and enter in high CV value giveaways

Read again. You'll never get past $30 unless you gift a non-bundled game.

it would be better if we had exact value breakdown of contributed games to better see the math behind the total cv

Not worth to give away games. I wanted to giveaway more games but i will give them to friends i personally know for free. Game is same as from the store, winner is happy for getting same experience for free instead of pay for it and get only 20% of the value is ridiculous... Who cares about how did anyone get the game. 30 CV looks good enough. I will not raise it.

let me guess, you also regret all the games you have won?

Basically i do. I allways entered to them to waste rest of the points. Except Deadlight (i wanted it) so i bought it by myself and day later i won it so i gave it to friend. If i did not get any of these... i wouldn't mind. I´d like to give away many games i have here from budles, stores and promotions to a stranger. But for 20% of the price don´t worth the time to create giveaway. Send it to friend via chat is faster and same effective because 20% is nothing for me compared to saved time. I have xcom, mafia 2, Grid, Bioshock 1 and Infinite, Dirt, Fuel and dozen of other AAA games and get average 4 CV points for each? Oh c´mon...

Wait...you won Deadlight then gave the copy you won to a friend? You just admitted that you broke a rule.

So you don´t want to give (it´s ok), but you don´t wont to get ( also ok) ....and you breaking site rules (not ok)...so whats your point complaining about CV, just leave the site and keep doing your stuff in the chat.

You get 0 credit after 30 dollars. So you can pay 15 or more for a Humble Bundle BTA give that game away on here and get 0 credit for it. Great system. smh Same game someone else can get a 90% off coupon they pay 1.50 and get full credit on here. Isn't randomness fun? Hypocrisy? Yay, these are fun things. In other words, yes, don't waste giving games away on here, give them to friends.

You again? I already told you, if you don't like it here, just leave. We don't need these type of comments everywhere. Shoo.

"Same game someone else can get a 90% off coupon they pay 1.50 and get full credit on here"

That's not correct. The same game will count as a bundle game regardless where you bought it. Steamgifts has no way to know where you bought the game and therefore once a game has been bundled, all giveaways of said game will count as a bundle game giveaway.

Can someone please explain to me what this 30 dollar limit thing is about? A winner received a game from my latest giveaway and now my value is locked at thirty. Checking the bundle list the game I was giving away (Overcast) had not been in a bundle for months now.

It doesn't matter when it's been in a bundle. Any game that's ever been in a bundle is considered as a bundled game forever.

Well that sucks! So is there anyway of getting past the thirty dollar limit or is it stuck like that forever?

Giving away non bundled games.

Give away a non-bundled game and you will get full amount of game in CV points. You will also get up to 20% of that value in extra points if you gave away enough non-bundled games.

So does that mean that I have to make giveaways with a non-bundled game for now on? And if I make a giveaway for a game that is bundled I'm not going to get any CV points? An d for the rest of the bundled games I sent will I receive full or partial value for the game after I giveaway a non bundled game?

You can receive full value for all of your bundled games as long as you have a total value of non-bundled games that is high enough based on the formula.

For instance, if you have given away $100 in bundled games, in order to get full credit for them, you need to have given away $350 worth of non-bundled games.

Here is a little chart to give you some idea:
(BG = Bundled games, NBG = Non-Bundled games)

BG Total NBG Total Total CV you will get

-------- --------- ---------------------

$100_____$0________$30.00 (first $30 of bundled games are considered non-bundled games)

$100_____$1________$31.20 ($30 + $1 + 20% of NBG total)

$100_____$2________$32.40 ($30 + $2 + 20% of NBG total)

$100_____$30_______$66.00 ($30 + $30 + 20% of NBG total)

$100_____$31_______$67.20 ($30 + $31 + 20% of NBG total)

$100_____$60_______$102.00 ($30 + $60 + 20% of NBG total)

$100_____$100______$150.00 ($30 + $100 + 20% of NBG total)

$100_____$350______$450.00 ($30 + $350 + 20% of NBG total)

$100_____$351______$451.00 ($30 + $351 + 20% of NBG total)

So you see that only after you giveaway $350 of non-bundled games do you get the full amount of $100 for bundled games. If you gave away more than $100 worth of BG, then you will have to give away even more NBG to get that full value.

Notice that $30 + 20% of NBG total can not exceed BG Total, so it tops out at $100, therefore when you go from $350 to $351 for NBG Total, it only adds $1 to the CV.
