I like to see comedy movies with my wife. Jim Carrey and Robin Williams (R.I.P.) are the best for me. Which comedy movie (old or new) do you recommend me to see?

Here a Ga for you, kind people :)

A lot of my tastes are older or sort of all over the place, but I'll list some of what I think are really funny / great comedies.

Dr. Strangelove (this is in theaters in the US on Wed., at cinemark theaters)
Early Woody Allen movies like Sleeper, etc.
Coen Brothers movies (The Big Lebowski, Fargo, The Man Who Wasn't There)
Marx Brothers movies
The Philadelphia Story, Arsenic & Old Lace
If silent is okay, then I think Chaplin's stuff is really good (ex., Modern Times)
If you are a musician or have a musical sense, the recent Florence Foster Jenkins movie is pretty funny

And, thanks for the giveaway!

+1 for Dr Strangelove.

And chase it up with every other Peter Sellers film ever.

And then since you've just binge watched the Pink Panther series, you'll be in the mood for another comedy/mystery, so you can watch Clue!

Can I ask what the game the giv is for?

I second Hot Fuzz being great.
The Hangover I

Some Adam Sandler ones I liked:
Little Nicky
Happy Gilmore
The Longest Yard

The Rush Hour series (if it counts)

Monty Python movies can be funny, Life of Brian is probably my favorite.

The funniest I've seen was Schindler's List .

First option

  • La Grande Vadrouille is a comedy at it's finest, despite being set in Germany-occupied France. There is character comedy, situational comedy and many stunts.
  • Le Magnifique - superspy parody is a recurring theme in French comedies, this movie made it deeper by adding "reality vs fiction" comparison. Jean-Paul Belmondo looks great both as a poor writer and a macho superspy he writes about.
  • Full Monty is fun and touches working class problems: former metallurgy workers cannot find a job after UK industrial decline so they decide to become striptease dancers.
