You might remember I encoutered a bug a while back that wouldn't let me play. Fortunately after re-installing the game it went away and I could enjoy the game. It was during the first chapter, about 3/4 in I think. Today I was in the second half of the second chapter (over 18 hours in) and when I started the game I accidentally deleted my save game! Developers are fucking idiots for letting it be so easy to do. Not to mention they are idiots for always letting you choose your save profile at the beginning of the game. You just have to click one button on the gamepad instead of the other one and here you go, savegame deleted. I don't even know if there was a confirmation and if there was I somehow also managed to click "yes". I've played so many games and it's the first time it ever happened.

Why would they make you always choose your profile at the beginning of the game and making it so easy to delete it is BEYOND me. Better yet - why give option to delete it even? Can't you just overwrite it if you run out of profiles? In most games, even if they do have a profile, you choose them either after "new game" or you can just click "change profile" in the menu and the one you actually use is always set as the default one. But NOT HERE!

So yeah this time I'm ditching this piece of shit for good. I might come back to it after a few years but for now I'm done.

Oh and right after it happened I clicked ctrl+alt+tab and closed steam.exe and darksiders2.exe hoping it wouldn't save to Steam Cloud! But OF COURSE IT FUCKING DID! I have no idea when but it did.

XXI century and such problems still occur. Pathetic.

Maintaining your saves is your responsibility not the devs.

Of course. But some games make it extremely easy to delete them, especially by accident. It's not like I behaved irresponsibly.

If the game actually did ask you before deleting the savegame file, then its hard to blame the game.

Download someones save then, similar to yours. Here is a good site for it.

Nah, I don't like doing that in open world games. I knew what exactly I did, which side quests I did, what loot I got, what secrets I found and so on. I'd rather just play it all over again.

That sucks hustla. Really sorry to hear that happen.

I don't remember ever having to pick my profile when I played. I just hit start in the beginning and it went right into my game.

sometimes when i see that shit is happening, i unconnect the data cable and do it all over again locally not to jeopardise the remote file. with the original savegame in the cloud, maybe you could have accessed it from another pc and save it locally. anyway, you normally don't think that bad before... :/

You can try getting it back with Recuva. It didn't help with either of the Batman games I've been playing lately, but if you know the name of the savefile, a single search might restore it to an older state. And yes, it's capable of restoring overwritten stuff too, but not always.

That's a bitch and a half! Sorry man. Gotta be extra careful with that kinda stuff, but I do agree it shouldn't be THAT easy to mess up.

I found my old save file from when I was at the end of the first chapter (I made a copy of it when I had the previous problem) and I'm playing from that moment on. Right now I'm at the beginning of the second chapter. I like this game too much to quit lol.

Haha, I was thinking sth like this when I first read your post. It's too good a game to put it aside :) Have fun, glad you found a solution.

(And by the way: I "borrowed" your idea for a music quiz, not sure you recognized, so I take my chance to thank you here: thank you for inspiring me!)

Nah, like I said above, in games with open world I don't like playing on other's people's saves as I don't know what they did, what they found and what they didn't find and so on.

But thanks.

Lol. Same thing happened to me the first time I played.

Few months later (about two months ago), I decided to give it another run. And again, woe! I accidentaly deleted it again.

So yeah, fuck Darksiders.

It's so easy to delete it by accident, isn't it? Lol.

I was in a similar situation with one of my favorite games, Spelunky. I was going for 100% and ended up rage quitting and actually uninstalled. Unfortunately uninstalling it deleted your save for whatever reason. Thankfully I already got the achievement for unlocking everything (characters and journal) so it wasn't that big of a deal but could of been worse.

There was another game but I deleted it on accident and had to download a save file.
