I haven't had much sleep, but I am a happy fox today.

After completing my bass mod a couple weeks ago, I decided it was time to finish another project I actually had started almost a year ago.
Yes, I'm quite a procrastinator. But when I finally make up my mind I get a bit OCDed... and if that's not a real English word, then it should be.

This time I built myself a guitar. Not that I can really play it, nor I really needed a third guitar, but it looks cool.

Warning: long story. Feel free to scroll down for the sweet, sweet GAs you leech!

  1. About a year ago I purchased what seems to be a very good forgery of a 24-frets Ibanez neck with shark fin inlays. Pretty cool. Paid peanuts.
The colour didn't match the theme I had in mind, and I wanted MY logo on it, so I sanded the crap out of the headstock and re-painted it.
  2. Later I bought a (this time genuine) B.C. Rich Warlock guitar body from another shady character in a dark alley.
Gave it two different primers (silver, then white), followed by white paint, then used a soft pencil for the outlining.
  3. The body has been painfully hand painted by yours truly. First the colours, then I used a toothpick to do the the thin black outer lines. That was a bloody pain in the arse, trust me.
  4. After that, I sprayed about 10 layers of a glossy clear wood finish. Shiny! That alone took me a couple weeks. When it was all dry, I waxed it until I could use it as a mirror.
  5. YESTERDAY I finally decided to fit the pickups and all the rest. But first I did some EMI shielding with copper tape.
  6. Time for the electrics to go in. Pickups, volume pot, selector switch, parallel/series switch, kill switch and so on... Like this.
  7. Although the neck fits perfectly in the pocket, the holes didn't match. So I had to roughly fill them and then make new ones.
  8. Aaaaand it's done!

MUSIC

I finished this around midnight, but I still wanted to try and record something. And what better choice than the sound track of an all-time favourite Sega Mega Drive video game?
I know I'm at best a mediocre lead guitarist, and I'm usually a bit better with bass and rythm, but this is the best I could do at 1am yesterday.
Maybe someday I will learn to play and mix properly and decide to re-do this in a better fashion.

TL;DR / TRAIN

This is just a very convoluted excuse to create a small bundled TRAIN. Level 1+, SGTools basic rules apply. Enjoy!

And there's also a little extra for the very few people in my wishlist whitelist.

Wow. All the process. Looks like the kind of thing id never do becuase the fear of breaking something.
How many hours (circa) you spent on this?

Hah, I suck at DIY, but miracolously I didn't break anything.
Roughly, I think the whole thing took about 80-100 hours. An experienced luthier could have done it in just a couple days I reckon.

Cool :D

I started to make paper model around 1,5 year ago... and it's gonna take me a lot more as I lost enthusiasm after I made more or less first proper parts. Lolz.

Congrats!

I was considering doing a Germany-themed one as a homage to my favourite German bands (Scorpions, Blind Guardian, Helloween...), but can't find a yellow acrilic paint I like :(
Green, yellow, orange and brown are the most difficult colours.
